Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, or tend to grind and related tools that remove excess material or burrs from surfaces, sharpen edges or corners, or buff, hone, or polish metal pieces.
- Select the proper tools for the type of metal or surface to meet the requirements of the customer- this could include aluminum, cold rolled steel, or stainless steel
- Inspect and feel work pieces to ensure that surfaces and dimensions meet specifications.
- Specific attention to detail ensures that when painted grinding efforts are not visible.
- Performs basic maintenance, such as cleaning and lubricating hand tools
- Always maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Comply with all company processes, procedures, quality directives and safety procedures.
- Must be aware of, and work to, established set-up and part per hour run times, and part quality requirements as established on work orders.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and does so with minimal supervision
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have previous experience and possess the knowledge, skills, and working background to operate grinding hand tools and produce products according to customer print specifications.
- Ability to use measuring instruments (e. g. gauges, micrometers, calipers, Sheffield).
- Safety minded
- Must be able to lift 50#
- Frequent stooping, bending, twisting, squatting, pushing and pulling
- Occasional lifting above shoulder level
- Must be able to stand for 8-10 hours at a time
