Reports to: Shipping Manager

Job Summary: A Truck Driver, or Transporter, is responsible for transporting goods from one location to another. Their job duties include loading their vehicles, abiding by traffic laws and ensuring safe unloading and delivery at their destination.

Job Description:

Tasks:

• Short-distance local driving around the Metro Detroit
• Communicating and coordinating with dispatchers
• Obeying and following applicable traffic laws
• Securing cargo and properly arranging and balancing it within the vehicle
• Maintaining a detailed log of working hours in compliance with state and federal regulations
• Ensuring any mechanical issues with the vehicle are corrected before driving
• Operate Electric Forklift to support Shipping Department
• Loading and unloading material from trucks
• Stacking and moving material throughout the facility in a safe and effective manner

Job Specification:

Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of safety regulations, to be familiar with not just traffic laws but rules regarding how often they are required to rest, maximum miles driven, etc.
• A clean driving record
• Physical fitness
• Strong hand-eye coordination
• Visual and hearing acuity

Minimum Requirements:

• Valid Chauffeur's License required
• Valid DOT Medical Card required
• 3 years Commercial Driving experience
• 3 years Forklift Operator experience

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
