JOB PURPOSE:
Responsible for assembling electrical control panels, wiring components and testing the systems, along with working alongside engineers to create drawings and quotes for electrical control systems for industrial and mobile machinery following the appropriate industry safety and design regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Reviews and interprets project specifications.
2. Read and interpret engineering prints and electrical schematics.
3. Inspect and modify existing designs and prototypes.
4. Creates and maintains detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and panel layout drawings using AutoCad software.
5. Develops detailed bill of material, work order instructions, test procedures, and related documentation for manufacturing. Accuracy must be ensured in all engineering documents.
6. Assist the manager in providing timely updates to customers and JMG personnel.
7. Assists in developing cost estimates for projects.
8. Build electrical control panels and, inspect & test the panels built by other technicians.
9. Testing of electrical controls including continuity testing, power testing and downloading of existing program files.
10. Assists in customer presentations, service and technical support, traveling when required.
11. Supports existing equipment designs by identifying areas for improvement and leading changes.
12. Collaborates and works closely with other designers, engineers, and personnel from other departments to develop and maintain JMG design and manufacturing standards.
13. Prepares and maintains design documentation according to ISO 9001 quality management standards.
14. Participates in additional activities contributing to the overall goals of the company as the opportunities arise.

Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office suite; Microsoft Internet Explorer; AutoCAD; Business Central; ability to learn new software and programming languages as required by the projects.
Education/Experience:
Associate degree (A. A. / A. S.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school in electrical/industrial automation field; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Entry level position minimum starting requirements include strong understanding of electrical fundamentals and manufacturing processes. Job requirements after the entry level phase include:
Familiarity with hydraulic systems and their interaction with electrical controls is a strong plus.
Proficiency in drafting software (AutoCad).
Strong understanding of electrical codes and standards (Ex. UL 508A)
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Experience working in an ISO 9001 environment is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Other Abilities: a qualified candidate will have a subset of the following skills.
· Knowledge of industry standards
· Strong mechanical aptitude and technical comprehension
· Understanding of electrical schematics and symbols
· Knowledge of electrical and hydraulic components and their function in a circuit
· Experience with automation system sensors and safety systems
· Experience with industrial fieldbus communication protocols
· Experience with typical electrical lab equipment (multimeters, power meters, frequency analyzer)
· Technical communication (oral and written)
· Interpersonal relationship skills (ability to work in team environment)
· Ability to multi-task and function in a dynamic environment
