Job Description
Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. Reynolds is committed to hiring and retaining a racially diverse, culturally competent staff at all levels of the organization who reflect the demographics of our students. We also believe in providing an ongoing investment in our faculty and staff to deepen their skills and competencies to serve the full range of our student population.
The purpose of this position is to: provide daytime research assistance to students, faculty, staff and community members; collaborate with faculty to provide targeted resources for students through information literacy initiatives & outreach; participate in collection development including purchase recommendations and weeding; and assist with special projects as assigned.
Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications
Provide in person, email, and virtual research assistance to students, faculty, staff and community members using library databases, open web resources, citation tools and other apps. Develop and teach information literacy including workshops and scavenger hunts in person and via Zoom. Serve as an embedded librarian in Canvas, the college’s learning management system. Create and update research guides, handouts, worksheets, blog posts and marketing materials for students, faculty and staff. Develop and maintain the library’s collections for curriculum support by recommending purchases for books, periodicals and library databases as well as weeding outdated materials from the library shelves. Provide technical support to students, faculty, staff and community patrons in the use of MS Office, our Canvas learning management system and our PaperCut printing system. Complete special projects as assigned.
Additional Considerations
Required: Master’s degree in Information and Library Science from an American Library Association accredited school.
