J Street Property Services is Hiring a Leasing Manager Near Darien, IL

Job DescriptionThe Lasing Manager is the property’s sales leader whose primary duties are to generate leads, market the brand of the community, greet prospects, professionally present the features and benefits of the community, and properly secure lease agreements from qualified persons. The Leasing Manager is very sales and service-oriented and strives to make current residents feel welcome and comfortable in their community.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintains a professional, yet friendly, atmosphere in the leasing office and other areas where prospective residents and current residents meet.
  • Confirm that all units have been inspected and all show units are ready for tours.
  • Answers all incoming phone calls and handles each call accordingly, whether it is a prospect call, resident, service request, etc.
  • Greets prospective residents, qualifies, determines needs and preferences, and professionally presents community and specific apartments while communicating features and benefits.
  • Maintains awareness of local market conditions and trends. Contributes ideas to the Community Director for marketing property and for improving resident satisfaction and retention.
  • Manages outreach calendar and follows through with the agreed program.
  • Accurately completes all lease applications, assists with application verification, and notifies prospective residents of results. Types miscellaneous resident communication when necessary.
  • Confirms all follow up is being completed for the community.
  • Communicate effectively with all team members with encouragement and positive manner.
  • During lease up must work all weekends until stabilization goals are achieved
  • Physically inspect property and assist in keeping community clean which includes picking up rubbish and debris as needed.
  • Collects monthly fees and maintains records of payments and rental activity.
  • Posts and audits payables as needed.
Physical Requirements:The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Stand and walk or sit alternatively depending on the specific needs of the day. Estimate 60% of the time is spent on feet and 40% sitting at the desk.
  • Have an occasional need to perform the following physical activities:
  • Bend/Stoop/Squat Pick up litter, filing.
  • Climb Stairs inspect and show community.
  • Push or pull inspect and show community, open and close doors.
  • Reach above Shoulder inspect community, store/retrieve supplies.
  • Have constant need to perform standing and walking activities related to inspecting and presenting the property.
  • Lifting/Carrying (paperwork, deliveries, files, miscellaneous)
Additional Requirements:
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced and customer service-oriented environment.
  • Performs all duties under pressure and meets deadlines in a timely manner.
  • Works as part of a team, as well as complete assignments individually.
  • Takes instructions from supervisors.
  • Exercises problem solving skills.
  • Interacts with co-workers, supervisors, guests, and the public in a professional and pleasant manner.
  • Reliable transportation and maintain current valid Driver's License
  • Attend events/training sessions

  • Skilled in time management and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Solid understanding of anti-discrimination housing laws
Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in property management or real estate.
  • Any required state licensing.
  • Knowledge of property management software, Entrata, Bluemoon, and Revenue management.
