Summary: Inspects, classifies, buffs, repairs and conditions tires of retreading to meet MRTI specifications prior to delivery to customer by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Inspects and retreads tires and casings.
• Follows and executes MRTI specifications.
• Completes application of work methods, specifications and technical bulletins documentation on the post.
• Follows all safety procedures.
• Uses post documentation for decision making of casing retreadability.
• Classifies casings.
• Inspects sidewall bulges, suspects hidden ruptures and fatigue damage, run flats, etc. and classifies casings as acceptable for retreading, repair only or return as received.
• Refers to and uses post documentation for decision making of casing retreadaiblity.
• Chooses the correct tool and attachment for most efficient removal of damages.
• Use the metric ruler, tread depth gauge and tree tape.
• Performs operator housekeeping and maintenance.
• Uses work method to inspect all areas of the tire.
• Ensures that all customer requirements have been met.
• Brands the tire with plant DOT, CIA and week/year characters legible.
• Closes out tire on work orders and affixes inventory label to the tire.
• Ensures that sidewall and bead areas are painted with tire paint prior to shipping and storage.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Language Ability:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places; and extreme heat (non-weather).
