Why Jackson:

Jackson Behavioral Health Hospital (JBHH) is a three-story, 180,000-square-foot facility committed to the highest quality, treatment, and service. Opened in 1999, JBHH consolidates evaluation, clinical treatment, teaching and research, to offer a full continuum of care for children, adolescents, adults and elderly, including crisis stabilization, inpatient hospitalization, and outpatient programs. In association with the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine's Department of Psychiatry, JBHH offers specialized treatment for numerous conditions including depression and mood disorders, schizophrenia, suicidal ideation or behavior, anxiety and panic disorders, drug and alcohol abuse and Alzheimer's disease. JBHH also specializes in criminal justice mental health services.

Position Summary

The Director, Nursing Business Operations provides administrative support to nursing division, specifically with the Chief Nursing Officers on clinical, operational, and financial affairs. The incumbent is responsible for the day to day project management and continuous improvement of nursing division, and provides staff support on administrative and clinical issues and high level conceptual input into complex top management deliberations and decision involving the direction of nursing requirements and programs.

Duties & Responsibilities

Provides the leadership framework for planning, directing, coordinating and improving services within JHS. Manages the day-to-day operations and coordination of process-related work activities of nursing division, and establishes systems of accountability for clinical, clerical and support personnel to ensure that customer needs are assessed accurately and serviced in a timely fashion. Provides analysis and advice on administrative and clinical matters pertaining to long and short term planning, financial and workload analyses, and program evaluation and implementation. Ensures all required responses or action required are coordinated with proper source, meet time frames, and are consistent with service and medical center policy. Facilitates timely, effective communication and collaboration among departments. Serves as liaison with the administrative leadership to the nursing leadership, and works in collaboration concerning contracts, administrative, and clinical issues. Assists in the development and implementation of business plans. Participate in planning functions including hospital strategic, operational, emergency management and disaster preparedness, and coordinates administrative and clinical program proposals with the strategic planner and management to achieve the mission and vision of the JHS. Analyzes, obtains, and provides information and recommendations on issues to meet the goals of the hospital. Independently initiates and coordinates special projects which provide valuable insight into work operations, organizations, and programs. Manipulate data from a variety of complex software programs requiring expertise in the use of computers and the ability to devise programs and extract data which will prove useful in evaluating relevant managerial and/or clinical information. Keeps abreast of software and develops management ways to effectively analyze and monitor financial and workload management. Coordinates internal/external financial, workload, and resource information to ensure accuracy; makes recommendations after thorough analysis of data while considering any relevant interrelationships between service and assigned area(s) programs. Be responsible for thorough analysis of new or revised policies, procedures, or programs and advises of issues and recommendations for appropriate action. Provides input required to ensure effective implementation of established program plans and goals established by senior management, which includes but not limit to the performance of special studies, chairing special work groups and attending Council/Committee meetings as required. Presents controversial and critical observations, findings, and recommendations to leadership, Councils/Committees, representatives, etc. as required on issues affecting the service and assigned area(s). Works with nursing leaders to evaluate ineffective practices and coordinates development of best practice management strategies to improve efficiency. Trains and motivates staff necessary to implement the goals, objectives and responsibilities. Provides leadership for staff development and ensures staff participation in appropriate orientation, training courses and mandatory educational programs to maintain competency in job skills, knowledge, equipment usage and safe work practices. Maintains a working knowledge of laws, policies, procedures and collective bargaining agreements impacting upon employees in assigned area(s), and maintains current knowledge of County, State and Federal guidelines/requirements as they apply to job duties, licenses and certification to ensure the Hospital compliance with regulatory agencies. Education

Bachelor's Degree in nursing, business, or in related field is required.

Experience

Generally requires 5 to 7 years of related experience. Experience in hospital business operations

highly preferred.

License/Certification

Valid Florida RN license is required. Life Support Certification Requirements
