Job Summary:The Marketing and Business Development Outreach Specialist supports marketing and business development initiatives including the firm’s national alumni program, the creation of marketing content and implementation of marketing and business development programs, campaigns, and initiatives that highlight firm experience, and enhance brand awareness. The Outreach Specialist will collaborate closely with Business Development Managers, the Senior Director of Business Development and Content Marketing Strategy (SDBD), and the larger business development team, the KMA team and attorneys to support the content marketing and business development team and ensure that the strategic initiatives and the firm’s content marketing strategy are relevant, timely, consistent and realized.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the SDBD in the execution of MBD strategic initiatives including:
    • Industry, practice and service group marketing and BD,
    • Thought leadership and content campaign development,
    • Creation and maintenance of client focused practice, industry and service group content and experience lists, including website content, and
    • National, regional and local client initiatives and programs, including the national alumni program.
  • Draft attorney biographies and manage bio updates on the website and in support of proposal generation.
  • Draft and maintain practice and industry group marketing content including group standard marketing collateral, PG/IG overviews, website content, and client presentations, as well the development of supporting videos and podcasts, in coordination with the Marketing Campaigns Manger and the SDBD.
  • Act as a liaison between the MBD department and the Communications and other business services units in support of the JL nationwide alumni program. Responsible for action items including:
    • Support the SDBD in the creation of alumni focused content including alumni profiles;
    • Work with the Marketing Technology Manager to maintain an accurate and up to date alumni group lists;
    • Support the coordination of all alumni events; and
    • Help maintain the alumni LinkedIn group page.
  • Support the Business Development team in the creation and maintenance of client focused practice, service and industry matter experience lists.
  • Outreach to and coordination of external and internal stakeholders in support of integrated content marketing strategy.
  • Maximize the use of AI in initial drafts of marketing content as appropriate and in line with the firm’s AI use policy.
  • Support creation of CLE presentations, client alerts, white papers, and other substantive content through the advanced use of PPT in conjunction with the firm’s brand guidelines.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and the events team in the development of practice/industry group firm events that support strategic initiatives.
  • Have a thorough understanding of MBD tools and technology to be able to leverage those tools to create analysis to support strategic content and other goals.
  • Ensure brand and product standards, tone, voice, and style are adhered to across all channels.

Skills and Educational Requirements:
  • Excellent communication, writing, editing and presentation skills, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences, platforms, and channels.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a demanding environment.
  • Creative, innovative analytical person, with the ability to generate new ideas and solutions.
  • Prioritizes teamwork and collaboration, with the ability to work effectively with diverse business services units and stakeholders across the firm.
  • Experience in using marketing tools and software such as CRM, CMS, email and web marketing analytics and design tools.
  • Detail-oriented, attentive to nuance and tone in marketing content.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly with advanced skills in PowerPoint.
  • 5 years of relevant marketing experience, preferably in a professional services or legal environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree or professional certification a plus.
