Job Summary:

The Athletics Graphic Design Coordinator will develop all collateral including print, digital, video board and social media graphics in an effort to raise brand awareness, increase attendance, generate revenue and maximize fan engagement, in addition to help recruit students for the University. The position helps creates the overall appearance of a wide range of communications products through the use of graphics, typography, content strategy, visual design, and animation to effectively deliver products to the targeted end user, specific to the Athletic Department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Creates well designed publications including, but not limited to posters, brochures, annual reports, infographics, web banners, schedule cards, e-mails, video board graphics and other promotional materials, and advertising, positively reflecting the programs and services offered by the University.
  • Assists in the development of marketing strategies and address issues related to the branding of the University’s Athletic Department, while working with all 17 sports teams, ticketing, media relations and athletics marketing on design fulfillment.
  • Works with representatives from within the Athletic Department and Athletic teams to gather design information, and oversees production from initial concept to final product, while upholding the Jacksonville State University athletics brand, logos, wordmarks, colors and fonts.
  • Schedules and directs photoshoots as needed.
  • Creates engaging, interactive experiences (experiential marketing) for digital mediums and devices via video, web or print. Remains up-to-date on current design trends.
  • Identifies and Implements a themed and consistent look in promotion of the JSU brand and athletic teams.
  • Creates real-time content at assigned game days and special events, including but not limited to social media graphics (score updates, stats, accomplishments, etc.).
  • Evaluates visual information in terms of usability and influence, and communicates with Athletic Media Relations and Marketing to ensure game day needs are met.
  • Develops relationships both on and off-campus with an integrated combination of face-to-face, phone and e-mail communication methods in order to develop trust and camaraderie.
  • Attends University Athletic events and interacts with all stakeholders (faculty, staff, students, and fans and friends of the University) in order to judge effectiveness of designs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications or related field
  • Documented (permanent or freelance) experience in graphic, visual or related design
  • Experience in the use of Adobe Creative Suite: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe After Effects
  • Experience in client relations
