The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing various accounting and financial functions such as credit assessment, accounts receivable/payable, financial reporting, variance analysis, budgeting, interpretation of accounting standards, internal controls, and month-end closing. This position reports to the Controller and is a hybrid work schedule, 1-2 days per week in our Columbus, OH office.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
• Maintains and balances accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions, and resolving discrepancies.
• Performs credit assessment of new customers and updates to credit limits.
• Summarizes financial status by collecting information, preparing financial statements, and creating reports.
• Analyzes sales and margin information and assists the sales team in researching questions.
• Assists with the preparation of annual budget and other forecasts.
• Evaluate budget variances and reviews with business departments.
• Assists with information collection for all types of audits.
• Assists with accounts payable, including ensuring proper account allocations.
• Monitors corporate credit card expenses for reasonability & proper documentation.
• Assists with annual physical inventory counts, cost accounting, and variance analysis.
• Prepares and files state and local sales tax returns.
• Interprets GAAP and related accounting policies and procedures.
• Protects the organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
• Assists with projects and other duties as required by management.

Previous Work & Educational Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance.
• Minimum 0-2 years of relevant work experience.
• Proficiency with MS Office products required.
• Understanding of ERP systems w/NetSuite experience is a plus.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Collaborative team player mindset with the ability to work in a matrix organization.
• Possess strong organizational and time management skills.
• High attention to detail and ability to multi-task is an asset.
