The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Operations Technicians perform mechanical, electrical, and/or any other technical operations in support of spaceflight systems flight hardware and ground support equipment for NASA Programs Exploration Ground Systems (EGS), International Space Station (ISS), and Launch Services Program (LSP).

Flex schedule and Telework:
We value your time and commitment. Here at Kennedy Space Center, we offer partial telework options and flexible work schedules for many of our positions. The ability to utilize a flex schedule or telework will depend on your department’s demands and needs.
Being an Operational Technician means you will support Launch Vehicle Processing, Testing and Validation of Artemis flight hardware and associated ground systems. Additionally, you'll interpret engineer drawings and abide by stringent work area rules and safety protocols; must be able to pass a SCAPE Physical and maintain a security clearance; must be able to support shift work, weekends and reasonable overtime as required.

This position is also posted at a higher level and candidates may be considered based on their experience and education.
Must be able to work all shifts and a reasonable amount of overtime with limited prior notification. Must have excellent communication skills. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must be able to work at heights and confined spaces. Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance. Must be able to support all shifts, work at various facilities, and support multiple groups as directed by manager.
Experience with mechanical, electrical or high energy systems (Ex. High pressure pneumatics/hydraulics, cryogenics, hypergolic, etc) is desirable.
Experience in aviation or aerospace is advantageous.
Experience within Microsoft Office products (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) is preferred.
