JOB TITLE: Senior Accountant
DEPARTMENT: Accounting and Finance
REPORTS TO: Senior Manager, Accounting and Finance
SUPERVISES: None
POSITION TYPE: Exempt
GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for the administration, maintenance and general operation of corporate accounting, tax accounting, JSOX matters and assist Senior Manager for monthly reporting including fiscal year end audit. The individual will participate in a variety of special projects as assigned.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Primary: General accounting tasks including but not limited to periodic reporting of the accounting financial activities.
Secondary: Monitor cash flow, estimation and budgets. Work on special corporate projects as assigned by management.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES & PERCENT
Responsible for Management of all Daily Processes as follows:
Prepare month, quarter and year end closing with journal entries and creating financial statements / 10%
Conduct monthly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance / 10%
Assist Senior Manager with external auditors for review and year end audit / 10%
Communicate with Japan HQ Accounting staff via emails and meetings / 10%
Maintain lease schedule and make journal entries on a monthly basis / 10%
Maintain weekly cash flow projection in and out based on AP, AR, and bank statements / 10%
Provide financial reports for taxes, regulatory agencies and parent company / 10%
Assist Senior Manager for forecast and budget SG&A / 10%
Assist Senior Manager for JSOX internal control processes / 10%
Assist Senior Manager to work on special projects as needed basis / 10%
CORE COMPETENCIES
Strong Knowledge in finance, accounting, budgeting, cost control principles and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in the U.S.
Able to analyze financial records and interpret for other departments
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong Organizational skills
Detail oriented skills
Experience with computerized ERP systems
Advanced knowledge of Excel
Ability to function well in a team-oriented environment
Fluency in spoken and written Japanese preferred
Familiarity with SAP is a huge plus
BUSINESS TRAVEL:
This position may require minimal travel.
PHYSICAL DEMAND:
This position requires lifting up to 15 pounds occasionally.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting finance, business, or related field required.
Experience: Minimum 5-10 years of Accounting experience.
