Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is a tertiary care Level 1 Trauma Center and accredited Comprehensive Stroke Center. Our hospital provides innovative and high-quality surgical care to treat patients with a wide range of rare and complex conditions. Our team of highly trained and experienced neurosurgeons use the latest minimally invasive technology and surgical interventions to treat conditions affecting the brain, spine, and peripheral nervous system.

We are currently seeking Nurse Practitioners / Physician Assistants for immediate F/T, P/T and Per Diem day, night, and weekend opportunities. We are open to new graduates and our ideal candidates will be flexible, willing, and able to work a combination of days, nights, and weekends. We offer a comprehensive education program for neurological patient care, and extensive on-the-job training from all neurosurgical providers. We also feature a pre-residency fellowship program, with two physicians working full time supporting our NPs and PAs. In addition, we have full-time neurocritical care, neurology, and neuro-interventional services with whom we work very closely, each with their own team of residents, PAs, NPs, and Pre-Residency Fellows.

DUTIES:

• Selected NP and PA candidates in our Neurosurgery Department will have the opportunity to manage all aspects of care, including procedures, medicine, pre-op, post-op, and discharge responsibilities. Additional responsibilities will include:
• Taking patient histories and performing physical examinations.
• Evaluating and diagnosing conditions, developing and managing treatment plans.
• Ordering and interpreting lab tests
• Counseling patients
• Performing various medical and surgical procedures and assisting in surgical operations.
• Conferring with attending physicians, residents, and other care providers to ensure optimum quality of patient care.

PA REQUIREMENTS:

• Graduate of an accredited (Accreditation Review Committee for Physician Assistant Programs (ARC-PA) program; required.
• Physician Assistant License from the New York State Department of Education is required.
• Current NCCPA Certification from the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is required.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications; required.

NP REQUIREMENTS:

• Current NYS Nurse Practitioner License (master’s degree-Advanced practice)
• Current BLS and ACLS certification; required.
• Certification as a Nurse Practitioner with prescription privileges and DEA certification.

PA RATE: Per Diem Rate: $90/hr. Salary: $65.31/hr. - $73.54 /hr. DOE Plus Differentials

NP RATE: Per Diem Rate: $95/hr. Salary: $143,273 Plus Differentials
