Job DescriptionJAMCO AMERICA, INC.Job Title:FLSA Status: Salary Range: SummaryEnsures that all approved certification procedures, delegations, regulations, policies, and approved methods of compliance are followed and/or properly executed is support of Jamco America certification projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Perform a wide variety of certification-related tasks in accordance with established certification procedures and policies and understanding of FAA regulations and guidance material.
  • Coordination with and mentoring of, Certification Engineers, Certification Specialists, and Certification Administrative Assistants assigned to Jamco America certification programs.
  • Represent Jamco America certification interests in technical interface meetings with airline customers and the FAA, exhibiting mature interpersonal, language, and leadership skills.
  • Prepare certification and conformity inspection plans for Jamco America projects. Manage all certification activities for the assigned projects and coordinate all designee support functions.
  • Prepare correspondence to the FAA and other regulatory agencies on behalf of the Certification Engineering Manager.
  • Compile certification cost and schedule estimates in support of project proposals. Develop tools/databases and standardized estimate values for future projects.
  • Development, preparation, and documentation of standardized regulatory and certification guidance material.
  • Development, preparation, and documentation of certification procedures and checklist to be followed by the company, Certification, and/or ODA.
  • Assist in the development, preparation, and documentation of FAA-approved methods of compliance for all applicable regulations.
  • Assist the ODA Administrators in the execution of all ODA procedures and the maintenance of Jamco America continued eligibility for ODA.
  • Develop training material on certification/ODA procedures, on regulatory guidance material, and on accepted methods of compliance. Conduct training for ODA Unit Members, FAA OMT, and Jamco America personnel.
  • Prepare certification management reports which include current performance metrics, historical results, budget, forecasts, and/or performance trends.
  • Support other external reporting requirements including government surveys, Unit Member annual evaluations, and JSOX/FAA audit requirements.
  • Design, implement, and maintain effective internal controls.

RequirementsEducation and Experience:
  • Position requires completion of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related Engineering field, and 5-7 years experience, or equivalent educational and working experience (12 years minimum in an aerospace related field).
Knowledge:
  • General Engineering: Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes knowledge of principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various systems, goods and services to be able to read and understand technical documentation.
  • General Design: Able to read and understand drawings and specifications. General knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, drawings, and models.
  • Certification/Aircraft Design: Fundamental knowledge of the FAA requirements for the installation of aircraft interior system/subsystem components, e.g. 14 CFR Part 25, and OEM Design requirements (Standard Wiring Practices, Boeing Design Manual/Specifications, Standard Interface Documents, etc). Extensive understanding of aircraft terms, design requirements and certification processes.
  • Administration: Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, advanced leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources. Able to work in a team environment, able to coordinate projects from start to end, accept required roles, responsibilities and accountability.

Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience. Talking to others to convey information effectively. Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Language: Ability to write technical documents and formal business correspondence. Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, drawings, technical data, engineering documentations, governmental regulations, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to groups of customers, other employees, or organizations.
  • Judgment and Decision Making: Able to coordinate with outside organizations, such as program management and/or marketing/customer, to obtain critical data for review and appropriate decision making. Able to coordinate and lead Initial Technical Coordination Meetings (ITCM), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), and Critical Design Review (CDR) meetings.
  • Time Management: Managing one's own time and team resources/time allocation. Able to multitask and work independently and in a team environment.
  • Attitude: Demonstrate continuous skill improvement. Positive attitude is required.
