We are looking to hire someone to oversee our preschool program's daily operations. You will assist the center director in ensuring that our preschool program is well-coordinated and productive by managing its operations and coaching its people. The area of responsibility for this role requires knowledge of curriculum development, creating and implementing lesson plans, classroom instruction, management, coaching, and development skills.

POSITION PURPOSE

The After-School Teacher serves as a dedicated educator and mentor for school-age children during the after-school hours, providing a safe and enriching environment for their continued growth and development. The primary purpose of this position is to support children in completing homework assignments, engaging in stimulating STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) activities, and participating in enjoyable physical education games and activities. By offering academic assistance, fostering curiosity in STEM subjects, and promoting physical well-being through structured play, the After-School Teacher aims to enhance children's academic achievement, critical thinking skills, and overall health. Through positive interactions, encouragement, and guidance, the After-School Teacher contributes to the holistic development of each child, helping them to become confident, independent learners and active participants in their communities.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan and facilitate engaging STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) activities that promote curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills among students.
• Organize and supervise physical education games and activities to encourage physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
• Establish clear expectations for student behavior and enforce discipline when necessary, ensuring adherence to school policies and procedures.
• Foster a sense of respect and responsibility among students towards themselves, their peers, and the learning environment
• Assist in maintaining a clean and organized classroom environment, including tidying up materials and ensuring equipment is properly stored.
• Collaborate with Director to set curriculum goals and objectives, aligning activities with educational standards and student needs.
• Coordinate with volunteers or guest speakers to provide additional support, and enrichment activities, for students.
• Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding students' progress, behavior, and any concerns or achievements.
• Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere where students feel valued, respected, and supported in their academic and personal growth.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and training sessions to enhance teaching skills and stay informed of best practices in after-school programming.
