JCCA is Hiring a Career and Youth Development Supervisor Near Brooklyn, NY

Job Summary:
The Career & Youth Development Supervisor will coordinate, supervise and evaluate the overall operation and staff within career and youth development. The Career and Youth Development Supervisor will report to the Director of LEAP. They will ensure compliance with PYA mandates, supporting professional development as well as develop tools to ensure that the LEAP division remains data complaint.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Directly supervise Career & Youth Development Specialist, Housing Specialist and Internship Coordinator/Specialist within the LEAP Division.
  • Ensure agency meets all city and state mandates pertaining to Preparing Youth for Adulthood (PYA) goals.
  • Monitor and sign off on ACS/DSS youth independent living stipends
  • Ensure PYA groups are held and youth are working towards identified PYA goals
  • Create and enforce vocational/housing policies for all LEAP programs
  • Network and collaborate in the community to create and sustain partnerships for internships and employment.
  • Ensure that the LEAP Workforce employees are working collaboratively with parents, foster parents, as well as agency and school staff to advance the vocational needs of youth.
  • Act as liaison to ACS and other oversight agencies regarding PYA, Housing and Career Development compliance and activities.
  • Support staff with obtaining vital documents for youth prior to discharge.
  • Oversee internship programs as needed, including monitoring youth job performance, troubleshooting on-the-job challenges, and completing payroll as required.
  • Create and enforce vocational policies for all LEAP programs
  • Develop partnerships, resources, and referrals systems to connect clients with employment and training resources and employment leads.
  • Completion of ACS and Fair Futures housing trainings
  • Support the Housing/Career & Youth Development Specialists with monthly tracking reports
  • Develop/create tracking systems for housing, PYA and Career Development via Care4, Evolv and CNNX.
  • Support employees with the transitional process for youth (i.e- Transitional Medicaid, Supervision to 21, ACS Special Grant) etc
  • Assures effective communication among treatment team. Participates in treatment conferences for clients
  • Supervises and evaluates staff performance, develops measurable objects for necessary improvements and implements appropriate corrective action to staff adhering to human resources policies and utilizing Human Resources when necessary.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required
  • Coordinate with JCCA’s Youth Voice Assistant Director
  • Responsible for creating, training and supporting professional development plans for the Workforce and Youth Development team.
  • Maintain awareness of new trends and development in social services and related fields
  • Other related duties as may become necessary or as directed by department director, and/or administrator
Knowledge, and Skills Required:
  • Excellent Oral and Written communication
  • Ability to prioritize, manage time, and organize
  • Advocacy for individuals with disabilities
  • Knowledge of ACS Foster Care Mandates
  • Proficient in data processing/management (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Flexibility with schedule and work duties
  • Demonstrate understanding of trauma-informed practice
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Provide quality customer service to students, parents, and faculty/staff.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate in team settings and build relationship with external partners
Education and Experience Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • One- year supervisory experience recommended
  • Two years’ experience working with disadvantaged individuals
  • Strong customer service skills and experience motivating others.
  • Ability to make advanced analytical judgments and to work successfully in an environment without detailed direction (initiative); prioritizing skills; self-motivated.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and sensitivity to individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Required computer skills including word processing, computer software, and internet.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, faculty, students, and the general public.
  • Demonstrate ability to coordinate and implement program design
  • Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule including evening hours.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
  • Repetitive movement of hands and fingers (typing and/or writing);
  • Ability to stand or walk long distances and climb stairs;
  • Able to lift or carry 10-15 lbs.;
  • Visual acuity to view documents on a computer screen for long periods of time;
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings/nights/and-or weekends;
  • Must responds to case emergencies and urgent matters outside of scheduled work hours as needed;

Annual Salary: $65,000
