JCCA is Hiring an Education Supervisor Near Pleasantville, NY

Job Summary:The Education Supervisor will coordinate, supervise and evaluate the overall operation and staff within JCCA’s educational teams. The Education Supervisor will report to the Director of LEAP. They will ensure compliance with educational mandates, supporting professional development as well as develop tools to ensure that the LEAP division remains data complaint.

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Directly supervise Literacy Specialist, Middle School Education Specialists, College/Education Specialists, and Per Diem Tutors within the LEAP Division.
  • Work in tandem with MPCS and NYC school districts to ensure education success of youth
  • Support educational team with college bound activities such as but not limited to financial aid, SAT/ACT prep, exploration of academic settings and accommodations.
  • Create and enforce educational policies for all LEAP programs
  • Develop partnerships, resources, and referrals systems to connect clients with academic and training resources.
  • Completion of ACS and Fair Futures educational trainings 
  • Support the Education Specialists with monthly tracking reports 
  • Develop/create tracking systems for academic/educational needs via Care4, Evolv and CNNX. 
  • Support per diem tutors with curriculum development.
  • Assures effective communication among treatment team. Participates in treatment conferences for clients
  • Supervises and evaluates staff performance, develops measurable objects for necessary improvements and implements appropriate corrective action to staff adhering to human resources policies and utilizing Human Resources when necessary.
  • Support educational team with advocating for young people’s needs in various educational meetings; including but not limited to FTC’s, permanency planning meetings, school based CSE meetings and ACCES-VR utilization reviews, especially those who are aging out of foster care, suspension meetings and re-entry meetings.
  • Work with the office of Pupil transportation (OPT) to ensure youth receive transportation needed to attend school.
  • Manage Kidcar (arranging reservations) when needed
  • Support community educational collaborations
  • Provide guidance and support to direct reports
  • Identify educational patterns, review and analyzing data
  • Create/develop benchmarks to assess student’s academic success.
  • Other duties as needed based upon program need

Knowledge, and Skills Required:

  • Excellent Oral and Written communication
  • Ability to prioritize, manage time, and organize
  • Advocacy for individuals with disabilities
  • Knowledge of ACS Foster Care Mandates
  • Proficient in data processing/management (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Flexibility with schedule and work duties
  • Demonstrate understanding of trauma-informed practice
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Provide quality customer service to students, parents, and faculty/staff.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate in team settings and build relationship with external partners

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • One- year supervisory experience recommended
  • Two years’ experience working with disadvantaged individuals 
  • Strong customer service skills and experience motivating others.
  • Ability to make advanced analytical judgments and to work successfully in an environment without detailed direction (initiative); prioritizing skills; self-motivated.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and sensitivity to individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Required computer skills including word processing, computer software, and internet.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, faculty, students, and the general public.
  • Demonstrate ability to coordinate and implement program design
  • Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule including evening hours.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

  • Repetitive movement of hands and fingers (typing and/or writing)
  • Ability to stand or walk long distances and climb stairs
  • Able to lift or carry 10-15 lbs
  • Visual acuity to view documents on a computer screen for long periods of time
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings/nights/and-or weekends
  • Must responds to case emergencies and urgent matters outside of scheduled work hours as needed

Annual Salary $65,000
