JCP Downtown is Hiring a High Holy Day Youth Program Coordinator Near New York, NY

The Jewish Community Project of Lower Manhattan is seeking a creative and dynamic High Holy Days Youth Coordinator for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur 2024. This position will begin on August 1, 2024 and end on October 16, 2024. The youth programs will take place at 48 Wall Street.

Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead robust, creative, and engaging youth programs for Day 1 of Rosh Hashanah (2.5 hour program) and the morning of Yom Kippur (3 hour program) on each day for learners in grades K-5, including music, arts, and other activities to help learners connect to the holidays through various learning modalities
  • Manage backend logistics as well as frontend execution of programs, and serve as the primary on-site coordinator during the programs
  • Write lesson plans for the various activities that will take place as part of the program
  • Generate a thorough supply list and manage the ordering, organization, and distribution of materials needed for the programs
  • Co-plan and manage budget for programs
  • Assist JCP HR personnel with recruiting and interviewing youth staff to work during the hours of the programs, and supervise and support these staff during the programs
  • Collaborate with JCP administrative staff
  • Communicate with families and event providers/vendors as appropriate
  • Coordinate serving of pizza lunch and snacks during the program
  • Maintain a database of participants
  • Manage food allergies and needs of participants
  • Create a warm, engaging, and enthusiastic environment for participants
  • Ensure participants’ physical and emotional safety and wellbeing
  • Supervise and assist with setup & cleanup
  • Evaluate success of programs with reflection and analysis

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be a kind, creative, flexible, and adaptable individual who values Jewish pluralism and working with a team
  • Have excellent organization and communication skills
  • Have substantial leadership experience
  • Have experience in youth programming
  • Have experience working with elementary school students, their parents, community volunteers, and organizational colleagues
  • Be proficient in Google Suite
  • Have a background in Hebrew and Jewish culture, texts, and traditions (this is a plus, but not a requirement)
  • Be available to work without visa support

Compensation for this role is $2,500-$3,000, commensurate with experience.
