Jefferson Health is Hiring a Post Doctoral Fellow - Department of Cancer Biology - Lab of Dr. Karen Bussard Near Philadelphia, PA

A post-doctoral fellow position is immediately available in Dr. Karen Bussard's laboratory within the Department of Cancer Biology at Thomas Jefferson University, Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center, located in downtown Philadelphia. Dr. Bussard is looking for a highly motivated post-doctoral fellow interested in cancer metastasis to the bone and the tumor microenvironment. The laboratory utilizes murine models of metastasis, human patient samples, primary cell culture, molecular biology techniques, high-end fluorescence microscopy, biomedical engineering, and 3-D models to answer questions related to molecular and cellular aspects of bone metastatic breast cancer.
Recent work in the laboratory has identified a subpopulation of osteoblasts in the bone-tumor microenvironment that play a role in tumor progression. We are interested both in how this osteoblast subpopulation affects metastatic breast cancer cells as well as how these cells interact with the surrounding bone stroma during disease progression.
*Note: this is a grant funded position (Department of Defense).
