We are actively seeking a Sales/Planning Assistant Staff Engineer Sales Department
Position DescriptionNote – The following is not intended to be all-inclusive. Business conditions change and develop, as well as the individual develops requiring flexibility, straight forward communication, and forward thinking to prepare and adapt to change. The individual is expected to grow within these guidelines focusing on excellence within the role. You work in a friendly and courteous manner providing an accurate flow of communication. (both internal and external). This will prepare the individual for potential future positions as the business needs require and the individual demonstrates their contribution and potential.Your position is responsible for providing professional and dependable service and to develop our Team’s capability to deliver JIC’s key objectives to all our customers and suppliers. You will have a complete understanding of all customer/supplier requirements.Your understanding of JIC’s Management Policy “To become the best supplier” through our philosophy and guiding principles “Safety, Morale, Quality, Cost & Delivery” is imperative. This role will be measured against specific targets as noted in the departmental business plan.SUMMARY: THIS POSITION LEADS NEW MODEL ACTIVITIES BY COMMUNICATING AND WORKING WITH STAMPING AND WELDING TO DEVELOP S/Q/C/D/M TARGETS. PLANS AND DIRECTS ALL ACTIVITIES RELATED TO NEW MODEL PLANNING AS IT RELATES TO MEETING COMPANY GOALS BY PERFORMING THE FOLLOWING DUTIES PERSONALLY OR THROUGH DEPARTMENT MEMBERS.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesSAFETY
  • Promote safety, provides training opportunities to associates and enforces safety policies.
  • Track and monitor Associate safety to meet established target goals.
  • Investigate all work related injuries and property damage
QUALITY
  • Support achievement of quality requirements.
  • Assist in identifying and countermeasuring root causes.
  • Assist in verification of event parts and conduction of shipping reviews.
  • Participate in customer drawing reviews and suggest design countermeasures to improve quality and productivity.
COST
  • Support the development and management of department budget and costs.
  • Minimize the cost to purchase event parts.
  • Promote efficient use of time during trial events.
  • Manage New Model quoting process
  • Support in negotiating customer cost-down requests.
DELIVERY
  • Verify that Associates are trained and are following operating standards.
  • Coordinate with production departments to schedule all trial events.
  • Coordinate with logistics team members on shipping and receiving of event parts.
MANAGEMENT
  • Coordinate with all departments to develop New Model S/Q/C/D/M targets. Creates Master SAP for all department managers.
  • Lead NMR presentations and E meetings which includes obtaining documentation from appropriate departments, scheduling internal reviews, sending documentation to appropriate evaluators, and scheduling meetings.
  • Confirm K/G/Z completion.
  • Help manage design change study requests and design change notices by working with appropriate departments to estimate lead time and cost for any design changes.
  • Complete all required customer documentation such as NMR documents and quotations in a timely manner.
  • Collects data for creation of CCF (cost comparison form), and updates it as necessary
  • Communicates customer maker layout
  • Calculates and reports cost for design change study request, CRF (countermeasure request form), and VA (value added)
  • Provide input to strategic decisions that affect new model management.
  • Assist with the development of department business plans.
  • Ensure all established costs, quality, and delivery commitments are met.
  • Accept job assignments and changes in positive manner; take responsibility for own and team’s performance and job assignments.
  • Seek out new assignments, proposes improved work methods and finds better ways to complete tasks.
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Job Skills And RequirementsInterpersonal Skills: Possess skills to communicate with associates, other departments, senior management, suppliers, and customers.
Leadership Skills: Strong communication skills to provide direction and motivation to team members. Able to motivate associates and team members to keep process and equipment in good condition to assure smooth running operation.
Problem-Solving Skills: Able to quickly ascertain a situation and be decisive in identifying defects and solving problems with equipment and process to avoid missed quality, delivery or safety concerns.
Time Management: Develop task list and assure on-time implementation of tasks.
PDCA Implementation: Able to implement an effective PDCA Program (Plan, Do, Check, Act) whereby teams throughout the department follow the key steps of PDCA.
Computer Skills: Competent in Office computer software, including Word, Excel and Power Point. CAD knowledge and skill desirable, such as, CATIA, AutoCAD and understanding engineering drawings and dimensioning. Competent in usage of ERP systems. Able to prepare reports and presentations for group discussions.
Education, Math, Language And/Or ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business and/or related experience. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to analyze production reports and develop action plans to meet corporate goals. Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages to draw and interpret mathematical data and graphs.
