Jefferson Parish School District is Hiring a High School Math Coordinator Near Louisiana, LA
Position Description:
The Coordinator of Math for Instruction (K-12) is responsible for providing instructional support to school principals and teachers including but not limited to assisting teachers in their efforts to ensure student mastery of standards and attainment of Student Learning Targets (SLTs), designing and providing professional development opportunities for teachers and principals, developing standards-based assessments, and providing instructional resources.
Scope of Responsibility:
Assists in designing, writing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating curriculum and instructional practices in schools
Develops standards-based assessments to assist teachers in their goal of ensuring students’ mastery of standards
Provides and develops materials of instruction for grades K-12
Coordinates and facilitates the evaluation and selection of textbooks and instructional materials
Assures compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations/policies
Writes or revises grants and projects as assigned
Provides instructional assistance to local schools
Provides professional development to staff and informs school principals of scheduled professional development sessions offered by the state and other entities
Collaborates with building and district administrators to assess program effectiveness and develop appropriate improvement objectives for the capacity building of instructional leaders
Maintains connections with schools via the Administrative Update, website, email, and scheduled visits
Prepares written reports and oral presentations relative to Curriculum, Instruction, and Accountability matters
Perform any duties that are within the scope of employment and certifications, as assigned by the Chief Academic Officer, Director of Elementary Instruction, or Director of Secondary Instruction
Skills and Qualifications:

Successful candidates will demonstrate:
An earned Master’s Degree in education from an accredited college or university
Minimum of five (5) years Science teaching experience
Collaborative management style with a proven track record of working with diverse individuals to drive decisionmaking and results
High degree of professionalism with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities while consistently demonstrating sound judgment and disciplined thinking
Ability to organize and motivate people
Ability to conduct effective meetings and staff development activities
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
Maintain knowledge of technological advances in the field
Integrity, initiative, and good moral character
Understanding of regulations regarding the operation of Louisiana schools including, but not limited to Bulletins 741, 1530, 1706, 130, and 1508
Ability to relate to students, staff, administration, parents, and community
Possess desirable attributes of personality, enthusiasm, and interpersonal skills.
Desirable Qualifications:
Experience with curriculum, instruction and assessment development on the district, state or national level
Active affiliations with professional organizations related to scope of job responsibilities
National Board certification
Degree in subject area
Physical Involvement:
Sitting is required most of each work day.
Must be able to operate office equipment.
Standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting up to 10 pounds is sometimes required.
Ability to provide own transportation to schools, work locations, and meeting sites.
Mobility skills necessary to access a variety of work locations, including locations not on the ground floor.
