Jefferson Unitarian Church is Hiring a Communications Manager Near Golden, CO

Position Summary

The Communications Manager is responsible for all modes of communicating church information to visitors, church members and the community. This position also organizes and oversees the promotion of two annual fundraising campaigns.

Areas of Responsibility

Communications

  • Creates and prepares the Weekly Connection (weekly email), IGNITE (monthly newsletter) as well as reminders for submissions.
  • Maintains and updates the church website.
  • Schedules and manages livestream services.
  • Prepares orders of service for weekly church services and memorials.
  • Manages social media posts.
  • Creates posters and images to advertise events and activities that are used for physical and electronic displays.
  • Manages images and videos for display during services.
  • Manages our sign up process for volunteers and activities.
  • Creates physical print items such as postcards, bookmarks, brochures.
  • Follows and updates the church Communications Guide.

Fundraising

  • Manages the annual online church auction.
  • Schedules and implements communications about the auction.
  • Works with volunteers to secure and deliver auction donations.
  • Manages the auction software (Handbid) for donations and purchases.
  • Helps select themes and branding for year-end email campaign.
  • Manages schedule and delivery of campaign messages.

Other

  • As position develops, assistance with other tasks as-needed such as church rentals, pledge processing, volunteer management.

Working Conditions:

  • The Communications Manager works on-site at least two days a week, including Tuesdays from 9am to 1pm.
  • Lifting, stairs, and rearranging furniture may be required unless other arrangements are made with the supervisor.

Supervision and Working Relationships:

This position reports to and is supervised by the Business Administrator. JUC has a small full-time staff team and this position is integral to the team and expected to collaborate well across roles.

Requirements:

  • Related education or (2) years experience in a related field
  • Church or nonprofit experience working with volunteers preferred
  • An understanding of liberal religious values
  • Demonstrates ability to interact well with all ages

Hours of Work:

Part time, hourly, approximately 24 hours per week. Must be able to work Tuesday mornings.

Benefits:

Pay range: $25 to $30 per hour.

Employment by Jefferson Unitarian Church is employment at-will and as such the employment relationship may be terminated by you or by the church at any time with or without cause.
