Status: Seasonal - Part time
Pay: $13.27 per hour
Reports to: Summer Waves Sales & Revenue Manager

Summer Waves is hiring for the 2024 summer season to work May through Labor Day. This is a seasonal position that includes working weekends and holidays.
The Georgia coast's favorite water park, Summer Waves, welcomes families near and far, to cool off and cool down on our nine wet and wild rides. Jekyll Island is dedicated to maintaining the delicate balance between nature and humankind through conservation, education, and preservation. Surrounded by salt marshes, expansive oceanfront, and ancient maritime forests, it is situated within the chain of the Golden Isles, and just a few miles from St. Simons Island, Sea Island and Brunswick. As a State Park, Jekyll Island is a coastal haven where nature and humans peacefully co-exist.
Job Summary:
Under general supervision, is responsible for performing a variety of guest service duties including greeting guests and park visitors, providing information and services. Taking reservations, changes and cancellations of group sales, complete ticket transactions, reconcile cash drawer and oversee cabana rentals and occupancy. Position requires heavy public contact, customer service, cash handling and ability to use computer.
Description:
  • Greets guests and park visitors, provides information and ticket services in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Answers phones in a prompt, efficient, and friendly manner.
  • Promotes Summer Waves services and facilities as well as other Jekyll Island Authority amenities such as Sea Turtle Center, Mini Golf, Bike Rental, Golf, Camping, etc.
  • Resolves minor guest complaints to the satisfaction of the customer, informs manager of major problems, complaints, disturbances or unhappy guests.
  • Completes daily paperwork to include balancing drawer, documenting adjustments, refunds, etc.
  • Provides professional image at all times through appearance and dress.
  • Applies and follows organization policies and procedures.
  • Assists in keeping Summer Waves office and ticketing area neat, clean and tidy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow guidelines and work independently; must be able to speak clearly and listen attentively.
  • Demonstrate ability to use critical thinking, sound judgment.
  • Must be mature and demonstrate professionalism.
  • Must be cheerful and able to provide customer service while adhering to company policies/procedures.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays.
  • Successful completion of background check, including credit report.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
  • Exert up to 35 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • More than 50% of the typical work day will be spent reaching, grasping and using repetitive motions of wrist, hands and fingers.
  • Between 25% and 50% of the typical work day will be spent walking, standing, and sitting.
  • Less than 25% of the day is spent climbing stairs, crouching and/or stooping, kneeling, pushing, pulling and lifting.
  • Must have visual clarity to prepare and analyze data and figures, transcribing, use of computers and expansive reading.
  • Sensory abilities required include vision, feeling and touching with more than 50% of the day spent talking and hearing.
  • Majority of work will be performed within an indoor office environment. Typically work is not conducted in adverse environmental conditions.
  • Noise level is considered normal.
