Jenks Public Schools Community Education Childcare Programs is Hiring a Teacher Assistant Near Jenks, OK

Summary

Our Teacher Assistants supports children in our program 6-weeks to 3 years of age and assist the Lead Teachers and the Director by creating a safe environment for the children and assisting in daily activities. They must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment. Assisting the staff in implementing a quality educational program and in developing positive relationships with the children and their parents, the Teacher Assistant observes and documents children's interest and progress, and relays that information back to parents and staff. Teacher Assistant are responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on children's interests and needs under the direction of the Teacher and the Director.

Duties

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Assist with everyday operations of the program, including setting up before students come and cleaning up after students leave.
  2. Work with students in a manner consistent with each child’s growth and development. Be aware of each child’s needs.
  3. Assist in preparing lesson plans for children in accordance with developmentally appropriate practices.
  4. Implement lesson plans in a developmentally appropriate environment. Structure work and play center to meet the needs of the children and licensing requirements.
  5. Attend all required meeting and meet all staff development requirements.
  6. Adhere to student behavior and discipline as per the Jenks Elementary, Intermediate, and Middle School Handbook. Guide and administer discipline in a positive, respectful manner, which promotes self-control, self-direction, and self esteem for each individual child.
  7. Attend workshops and conferences in accordance with licensing standards and requirements per licensed year.
  8. Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Qualifications:

High School diploma or GED required.

  1. Experience in daycare/school-age care preferred
  2. Must meet all state licensing requirements.
  3. Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship.
  4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.6.
  5. Ability to work well with others.
  6. Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.

Physical Demands:

Regular Requirements: Stand for extended periods; sit for extended periods; twist at the neck and trunk; bend at the waist; stoop, kneel, crouch; lift/move up to 20 pounds; handle objects and tools with hands; repetitive use of fingers and hands.

Occasional Requirements: Reach with hands and arms overhead, above shoulder and horizontally; lift/move up to 40 pounds.

Visual Requirements: Close, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus.

Hearing/Speaking Requirements: Adequate to exchange information.

Employment Terms:  Twelve (12) month classified hourly contract in an Early Childcare Setting
