JERSEY CITY HOUSING AUTHORITY is Hiring a ROSS SOCIAL SERVICES COORDINATOR Near Jersey, NJ

Definition:

The role of the on-site Service Coordinator will be to plan, implement, coordinate and report on the programs and activities of the ROSS Program. The ROSS Social Services Coordinator will assist residents at the assigned JCHA public housing sites work toward and achieve economic self-sufficiency. The ROSS Social Services Coordinator is directly responsible to the Director of RECE but will be a direct report to the ROSS Supervisor who will oversee the day-to-day activities of the ROSS Coordinator.

 Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Develop, plan and coordinate outreach to public housing residents.
  2. Meet with residents in a confidential setting, assess the needs of families for educational, training, employment, supportive and other services that will support their efforts for self-sufficiency and develop individualized action plans.
  3. Design and direct on-site activities and programs, including job readiness workshops, job search, job counseling and other employment-related activities and resources.
  4. Identify local resources for educational, training, employment, supportive and other services and act as the JCHA’s liaison with third-party providers of such services; negotiate with local agencies for the establishment of services; refer residents to appropriate local agencies for needed services.
  5. Refer residents to the JCHA’s Workforce Development Coordinator for job opportunities.
  6. Maintain a system of tracking the services offered and results of the ROSS program efforts, evaluate and analyze results, and plan and initiate corrective measures and new approaches to achieve ROSS objectives.
  7. Prepare written reports, especially reporting required by the ROSS Program; perform general administrative work in connection with the programmatic responsibilities described above.
  8. At sites undergoing revitalization, support the relocation program and coordinate services to maximize support and mobility for families as they relocate from the public housing site.

Position Requirements & Qualifications:

  1. Three years of professional experience in social work, case management, counseling, vocational rehabilitation, job placement or related field.
  2. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college with a major in psychology, sociology, social work, counseling or related field.
  3. Ability to plan and implement programs, maintain records and write reports and correspondence.
  4. Ability to communicate clearly and work professionally and effectively with resident families and JCHA staff and third-party entities.
  5. Knowledge of, and ability to work with local service organizations to develop a wide range of resources for public housing families; ability to coordinate programs, activities and services on site, and ability to effectively refer families to local service providers for opportunities and assistance.
  6. Knowledge of computer software, including word processing and spreadsheet programs.
  7. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, in a manner that does not pose a direct threat to the health and safety of oneself or others.
