Jesse Tree is seeking a Case Manager to fill a critical role in providing supportive services to households at risk of eviction, as well as mediation and relationship management with landlords. The organization is looking to fill this position with a professional with a demonstrated commitment and interest in case management and helping prevent homelessness in the Treasure Valley. The Case Manager will work in Jesse Tree’s Emergency Rent Assistance Program.

Jesse Tree prevents eviction and homelessness for households in Idaho’s Treasure Valley by providing financial assistance, support, and connections to needed community services and resources during a household’s most critical time of need. The Treasure Valley is experiencing an unprecedented housing crisis and many of our neighbors are living paycheck-to-paycheck. One unanticipated expense or shortfall can easily send families into a tailspin, leaving them unable to pay rent.

Jesse Tree is the Treasure Valley’s only eviction prevention-focused organization working on the front lines of the housing crisis. We believe the solution to ending homelessness is to prevent it from happening to families in the first place. The Lead Case Manager position is critical to providing the quality services and resources our clients need.

Project Duties Case Management

• Meet with 20-24 households per month at risk of eviction.
• Conduct weekly intakes with clients.
• Support tenants through the eviction process and coordinate care with pro bono attorneys, legal interns, community partners, landlords, and court staff.
• Meet with clients in their homes, or other locations around the community that are convenient for them, in the Jesse Tree office, or remotely.
• Provide information, connections to resources, and assistance to both tenants and their landlord/property manager to promote housing retention, prevent unit turnover/vacancies and homelessness.
• Serve as a point of contact for landlords/property managers and provide mediation and negotiation to assist tenants in lease compliance and work to remain successfully housed. Coordinate payment plans or arrangements to move into new housing, if necessary.
• Educate tenants on resources related to increasing their income, cutting expenses, and creating a household budget. Connect tenants to community resources and benefits that will help them stabilize their housing situation, including new housing opportunities if tenants are not able to sustainably stay in their homes.
