ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW  

As a center for Jewish philanthropy, the Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund (the Federation) mobilizes assets to support the most pressing issues of our time, while building and sustaining thriving Jewish communities in the Bay Area, Israel and beyond for generations to come. We inspire personal and collaborative philanthropy, and facilitate grantmaking, impact lending, and advocacy to make the world a better place. 

With our work guided by Jewish values, the Federation operates as a community foundation, partnering with individuals and families to implement their charitable visions as well as to connect and strengthen the Jewish non-profit sector. In 2022, the Federation granted and loaned more than $245 million, making it the single largest funder of Jewish causes in the state of California. 

The Federation is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual with a variety of skill sets who wants to join a team working to build a new model of 21st century and next generation Federation engagement. 

ROLE SUMMARY

The Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund (JCF) is seeking an experienced and passionate Donor Engagement and Partnerships Manager to create and deepen meaningful opportunities to connect with existing and potential donors to excite and motivate them about the Federation’s mission and impact. Key aspects of this work include developing and managing partnerships with other organizations to design compelling programming as well as overseeing the Federation’s numerous awards programs recognizing exceptional leadership and contributions to enhancing Jewish life across our community, including the Diller Educator Awards, Robert Sinton Award for Distinguished Leadership, Judith Chapman Memorial for Women’s Leadership, and Lloyd W. Dinkelspiel Award for Young Leadership.

The Manager will work cross-functionally and collaboratively with the Integrated Philanthropy and Marketing teams, serving in a public-facing role regularly interacting with prospects and donors through digital and in-person opportunities. This person is a forward-thinking, innovative and energetic professional with proven success in donor engagement, capable of developing and orchestrating the implementation of a multi-year plan to advance the Federation’s efforts as a center for Jewish philanthropy.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS  

Partnerships

  • Work collaboratively with the Integrated Philanthropy team to design and execute engagement opportunities for targeted audiences (e.g. young adults and women philanthropists).
  • Act as primary liaison for Jewish Federations of North America programs (e.g. Young Leadership Cabinet, Atid, Women’s Philanthropy), including identifying and stewarding participants.
  • Build and manage relationships with strategic Federation partners (e.g. Wexner Heritage Foundation) to develop and implement compelling programming and communication strategies to engage existing and potential donors. Serve as primary liaison with these partners.
  • Recommend fundraising strategies to engage the partner participant with the Federation's work.
  • Support the governance structure and work of the organization by identifying potential prospects for leadership positions on various committees (e.g. Jewish Impact Committee, Impact Lending Committee). 
  • Provide general support to the Stewardship and Philanthropic Growth team

Awards Programs

Manage the entire awards program (up to five different awards per year) from start to finish, in collaboration with the relevant teams within the organization, including:

  • Ensuring adherence to the established charter and specific criteria for each award category (including making recommendations on how the criteria may need to be modernized to reflect the changing philanthropic landscape).
  • Managing the nominations process, working closely with the Integrated Philanthropy and Marketing teams to ensure a quality pool of possible recipients.
  • Acting as the primary liaison with the different awards selection committees, including but not limited to: identifying and recruiting participants and co-chairs, drafting meeting agendas, prepping appropriate internal stakeholders and co-chairs for committee meetings, developing all meeting materials.
  • Working collaboratively with the Events team to design the awards presentations.
  • Coordinating with the Marketing Team to design and execute a communication. strategy to the award recipients in internal and external communication channels.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of experience
  • Experience working with CRM database such as Salesforce.
  • Experience working in Special Events.
