Jewish Senior Life of Metropolitan Detroit is Hiring an Environmental Services Technician Near West Bloomfield, MI

Job DescriptionAt JSL you are part of a warm and inviting community that provides support services and quality living to older adults. Our residents enjoy a full range of social/cultural programs and activities while residing in our assisted living communities.
This position requires exemplary character and integrity be exhibited while carrying out the duties of this position.
The responsibilities of this position include entry level maintenance duties combined with housekeeping duties.Entry Level Environmental Services Tech Responsibilities
  • Perform HVAC, plumbing, electrical, painting drywall and miscellaneous repairs.
  • Some ground maintenance activities such as disposing of refuse.
  • Cleaning areas as assigned to include common areas, laundry room, restrooms, etc. of the facility
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum hallways, stairs, and clean office spaces
  • Trash removal
  • Setting up rooms for functions, activities and meetings as well as taking down for clean up of area after activities.
  • Cleaning apartments.
  • Assist with apartment turnovers.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Work within company policies and safety regulations.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems.
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Snow removal

  • 1 year maintenance experience

In partnership with our sister agencies, Jewish Family Service, JVS and the Jewish Community Center, as well as the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit, we seek to make it easy for you to find what you need for yourself or the older adults in your life. This One Number is the single portal for satisfying all needs for our older adults. Older Adults who seek to live in a Jewish Senior Life residence, often ask the following questions: Can I still see my own doctor? None of the JSL communities have a medical director or physician who is employed by JSL. However, there are doctors in the community who will make house calls to see a resident. Specialists include internal medicine, podiatry, dermatology, geriatric psychiatry. These visits are billed to your insurance by the physician directly. You are welcome to continue to see the physician of your choice in the larger community. Are meals included in my rental fee? At Fleischman Residence/Blumberg Plaza, three daily meals are included in the rental fee. At our other communities, dinner if offered five days per week. I live out of state and want to visit my parent once they move in. Can I stay in her room? Residential rooms at Fleischman Residence/Blumberg Plaza are not equipped for guests. In our other communities, a guest may stay in a resident's apartment for a brief, limited period of time. My loved one currently attends the Brown Center. If he/she moves in, can he/she still go to the Brown Center? Yes. Additional costs apply. Can I bring my own furniture? At all of our communities, we encourage residents to bring furniture that makes their surroundings feel comfortable and familiar. Fleischman Residence/Blumberg Plaza does supply furniture for residents. However, bringing your own is encouraged and welcomed. Does Jewish Senior Life provide transportation for doctor appointments and other outings? Transportation is available for a fee for various types of appointments, both medical and social. The front desk at each community schedules transportation. We also offer transportation from our sister agency, Jewish Family Service, as well as scheduled social transportation to markets, shopping venues, libraries, post office, banks, entertainment and other venues. What is the difference between Hechtman I and Hechtman II? Hechtman is a very large building with two attached residences - Hechtman I and Hechtman II. Hechtman I has 102 federally-subsidized one-bedroom apartments for low-income seniors and those needing amenities offered in a handicapped-equipped or barrier-free apartment. Meals, which are a requirement of tenancy, incur an additional cost. Rent is based on an individual's income. Hechtman II offers 96 one-bedroom market-rate apartments; monthly rent includes meals. Both Hechtman I and Hechtman II share spacious common spaces, including dining room, library and activity rooms. What is the difference between Hechtman and Meer Apartments? Both are independent living communities and provide the same services and programs. Meer has 1 & 2 bedroom apartments; Hechtman has only 1-bedroom apartments. Hechtman has market-rate and federally-subsidized apartments, while Meer has only market-rate apartments. Is a person able to live at the apartments temporarily to see if they like it? All of our apartments require a one-year lease. However, if you want a short stay, you may in any of the apartments, including Fleischman Residence/Blumberg Plaza, for a period of time. What is the difference between independent living and assisted living? Independent living consists of apartment living, meal service and activities. Support services are available to allow individuals to age in place. Assisted living is a higher level of care and provides three daily meals, housekeeping, and assistance with activities of daily living such as dressing, bathing, medication supervision, and other services.
