JHL Constructors is Hiring an Utility Quality Manager, Infrastructure Near Englewood, CO

The Utility Quality Manager is responsible for all aspects of utility quality including visual inspections, product data review, backfill/compaction, attending preconstruction meetings, creating quality control protocols, interacting with JHL utility self-perform craft, and subcontractor quality control. They will oversee the project quality control throughout its lifecycle from award to completion and will professionally represent JHL and effectively support Company strategic quality initiatives.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS: 

Core Duties / Responsibilities: 

  • The Quality Manager provides overall quality inspection and support to JHL jobsites for self-perform utility operations, and utility subcontractors, to ensure high quality and timely delivery of the project. 
  • Work with Project Manager, Superintendent, and project leadership and create open dialog for overall project success.
  • Work with the Project team as needed to coordinate and facilitate accurate and timely quality inspections.
  • Attend all utility pre-construction meetings. 
  • Ensure project team is utilizing JHL Quick Reference Guide and provide support to team where they are falling short of following quality guidelines.
  • Write quality inspection reports with follow-up corrections list, distribution to project team, and follow up inspections for verification of corrections.
  • 3rd party inspector 
    • Verbal and written communication with 3rd party inspectors. 
    • Review of 3rd party inspection reports and that the reports include risk mitigate for JHL enterprise risk. 
  • Creating daily report of each jobsite visited: 
    • Photo Documentation 
    • Document location on plans of inspections and description of what was inspected. 
    • Write down list of quality compliance and deficiencies. 
    • Ensure Quality Control Checklists and Inspections are being completed.
    • Verification that inspections are being done at the frequency required. 
  • Inspection of delivered materials for verification that materials are per approved submittals and jurisdictional requirements.
  • Understand and enforce quality elements of contract documents, specifications, jurisdictional requirements, and material product data. 
  • The Quality Manager will mentor project team members in quality. 
  • Continuous Improvement: 
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance quality and efficiency. 
    • Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in quality control methodologies, integrating relevant innovations into JHL Constructors’ practices. 
  • Risk Management: 
    • Identify potential quality risks and develop proactive mitigation strategies to minimize their impact on project timelines and costs. 
    • Conduct root cause analysis of quality issues and implement corrective and preventive measures. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education / Experience/ Training: 

  • High School Diploma, or GED Equivalent. 
  • 5-10 Years of experience in infrastructure/civil construction. 
  • Preferred, but not required, NICET Certification Level 1, 2, 3, and 4. 
  • MSHA & OSHA training. 

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: 

  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of infrastructure/civil construction methods; Delivers on key projects quality commitments via professional interaction with project team members. 
  • Detailed process & application knowledge relating to utility codes, governing body, construction practices, quality inspections etc. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with project teams and stakeholders. 
  • Strong attention to detail. 
  • Effective organization skills. 
  • Demonstrates resilience in challenging situations. 
  • Prioritizes safety. 
  • Shows adaptability to changing circumstances. 
  • Engages in interactive communication.

WORK ENVIRONMENT / TRAVEL:

FIELD: Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by the weather: rain, heat, and loud noises. Up to 10%, and/or daily travel as business requires during scheduled work hours.
