JM Murray is Hiring a RESPITE SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL DAY HAB Near Cortland, NY

Respite Support Professional- Day Habilitation Monday – Friday; Part-time up to 19 hours/week; between the hours of 2:00pm to 6:00pm Want to make a difference in the life of others? Work part time, up to 19 hours a week at $20.50 per hour.
JM Murray is seeking a Respite Support Professional. Duties of the Respite Support Professional will include providing supervision and assistance during respite activities. Ensure health and safety by offering support during activities such as dining, personal care, and hygiene needs. Assist in planning and organizing activities. Complete and submit appropriate and timely documentation of services.
The ideal candidate must have good verbal communication skills. Ability to work both independently or as part of a team. Sound decision-making skills and judgment, and be compassionate and caring.
Requirements: High School diploma or GED. 1-year experience with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.

General SummaryProvides support to individuals during waiver respite activities in a site-based setting. To ensure their safety, ensures supervision and assistance to individuals based on their needs.
Company Standards
  • Maintains regular attendance and punctuality in order to provide quality direct support and service to individuals served.
  • Follows all safety rules and regulations; wears and/or uses required protective equipment while working; immediately reports any safety concerns or unsafe working conditions to Service Management.
  • Conducts all aspects of direct support to individuals served in compliance with the JM Murray mission statement, policies and procedures, professional standards, and applicable governmental laws, rules and regulations.
Essential Functions
  • Provide supervision and assistance during respite activities according to individuals’ likes and dislikes.
  • Completes assigned documentation including, but not limited to, clocking individuals in and out of services. Submits documents according to company procedures and timeframes.
  • Communicates with families at pick up time. Communicates with families during the service, as needed.
  • Performs necessary direct support duties to ensure individual safety, health, hygiene and development. Duties include support with dining, personal care and hygiene needs. Assistance with tasks and activities specific to individuals needs.
  • Performs duties necessary to keep the environment clean, sanitary and organized.
  • Assists in planning and organizing respite activities.
  • Completes and submits appropriate and timely documentation of services. May be asked to use equipment such as a computer, laptop, and/or a tablet for documentation.
  • As assigned, performs clerical duties necessary to maintain accurate records and service operations including but not limited to filing, copying, computer entry, organizing and ordering supplies for activities.
  • Attends all required and requested training and meetings.
  • Conducts self in a manner as to always contribute to maximum individual growth and in accordance with all regulations, the DSP Code of Ethics and Company policy and procedures. Represents JM Murray and the JM Murray mission in a positive manner, treating people with respect and dignity.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities, as assigned.

EDUCATION And EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or GED required
One year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred
KNOWLEDGE And SKILLSAbility to lift, push, pull and move at least 50 lbs. based on the needs of individuals served
Ability to work both independently or as part of a team
Sound decision-making skills and judgment
Good verbal and written communication skills, and efficient use of technology
Compassionate and caring
Other RequirementsRequires clearance through a Background Check process that will include, but is not limited to,
clearance through the NYS Justice Center, the Office of People with Development Disabilities
(OPWDD), the NYS Office of Child and Family Services, and the NYS Department of Motor
Vehicles.
WORKING CONDITIONS Job assignments may take place indoors and outdoors and require travel to various community locations, in various environmental conditions including rain, snow and cold weather.
