JMHC Brand is Hiring a Director of Development and Donor Relations Near Madison, WI

Serving as a key member of the leadership team and reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, the Director of Development will be a strategic, results-driven, creative, and innovative donor development, donor relationship, and advocacy professional. Key responsibilities include the development, implementation and direction of purposeful Journey fundraising strategies that will meaningfully engage and motivate donors in the attainment of fund development goals. This individual will be an ambassador for the organization and will build strong relationships with volunteers, donors, and community leaders. The position will be actively involved with the Journey Board of Directors, and other stakeholders. The Director of Development will oversee all JMHC fundraising strategies, eventually recruiting, directing, and managing a fundraising staff and volunteers to engage, solicit and secure donations through various fundraising activities.

  • Proficient in the development of social media, direct mail, and other relevant media outlets to appeal to a broad donor base.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in the construct and utilization of donor platforms/CRMs.
  • Experience and ability to effectively communicate complex ideas and influence senior management and Board of Directors as well as interface with all other constituents, stakeholders, volunteers, partners, and donors.
  • Ability to make decisions and exercise good judgment in a changing environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to investigate, uncover, analyze, and translate data into meaningful, actionable information to create maximum impact. Prior knowledge and experience with CRM tools and fundraising platforms.
  • Established contacts or network within the Dane County community.
  • Initiative-taker; self-directed, results-oriented problem solver.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

A. Fundraising, Strategic Marketing Communications Leadership

  1. Partner with the CEO, COO, and Board of Directors to plan, execute, evaluate, and direct cost-effective, results-oriented strategies for donor cultivation (existing and prospective) and solicitation.
  2. Provide strategic leadership, planning and oversight for all aspects of the organization’s fundraising/donor development activities aligned with JMHC’s vision, mission and values and the strategic plan.
  3. Participate as a member of the leadership team to develop the strategic and operational plans including development and management of the fundraising budget.
  4. Develop and oversee donor engagement/fundraising events and promotions in concert with annual goals and objectives.
  5. In collaboration with executive leadership, develop and cultivate the organization’s donor base through the annual development, execution, and attainment of goals and objectives.
  6. Provide critical analysis and thinking of donor base data elements to plan, execute and optimize strategies to enhance donor giving (individual, foundational, corporate, et al).
  7. Recommend various tools and resources to advance fund development infrastructure.
  8. Personally participate in fundraising efforts to cultivate, solicit, close and steward gifts from current and prospective donors, with an emphasis on major gifts.
  9. Oversee organizational communications with current and prospective donors through appeals, letters, newsletters, publications, website, social media, and all other organizational communications efforts.
  10. Provide leadership of the organization’s donor relations efforts through the engagement and/or leadership in related committees and work groups.
  11. Develop and revise KPIs to measure progress in the evaluation of the department as well as towards established goals with quarterly and annual reporting; monitor and provide periodic progress reports to COO, senior leadership, and the Board.

B. Supervision

  1. Manage all aspects of departmental staff as it grows, including training, recruiting, hiring, coaching, mentoring and career development.
  2. Oversee the identification, development, and submission of non-programmatic grants designed to support the organization.
  3. Manages the organization’s communication staff and provides guidance on internal and external communications.
  4. Volunteer recruitment and management
