Starting Pay: $150,000 (depending on experience)

Purpose:

This position is responsible for the accounting operations of the company. This includes the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk. The controller is also responsible for enhancing the accuracy of the company's reported financial results and ensuring that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards. This position is based at our headquarters in Michigan City, IN; this position can work remotely up to 2 days per week.

Requirements & Skills:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field and a minimum of six years’ in similar role required.

· CPA license preferred.

· Progressive accounting experience in accounting or similar work environment.

· Ability to manage and mentor a small yet productive team.

· Excellent skills managing multiple competing priorities with strict deadlines.

· The ability to work independently and in a team setting.

· Strong critical thinking, logical thinking, oral and written communication skills.

· Excellent organizational, time management, and project management skills.

· Competent with computer software such as Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), ERP accounting software and related applications. Experience with NetSuite is preferred.

· Ability to remain calm under pressure.

Primary Duties Include:

· Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines including internal controls to maximize protection of company assets.

· Maintain internal safeguards for revenue recognition, actual costs, and adherence to organizational budgets.

· Oversee and or perform basic accounting functions such as A/R, A/P, time billing, purchase requisitions, G/L, tax payments and inventory control.

· Implement consistent accounting policies, practices and procedures that meet professional (GAAP), regulatory, and legal standards.

· Manage month-end, quarterly, and year-end closings in conjunction with Company’s CPAs.

· Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements for the company.

· Maximize payroll efficiency through innovative process in conjunction with Human Resources.

· Manage annual and one-off financial and 401K audits and serve as company liaison with auditors.

· Ensure business activities are covered by valid, binding contracts as required.

· Oversee, mentor and support accounting team with proactive leadership that creates a culture of trust, productivity, and accountability.

· Assist in developing short- and long-term operational strategies to improve the company’s performance.

· Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

· Regularly required to talk and hear. Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

· Viewing computer terminal, perceiving, and transcribing data with accuracy and keyboarding

· Light work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

· Work can require walking while carrying objects, stooping, kneeling, crouching, as well as grasping objects, and reaching with hands and arms.

· Required to stand; walk; sit for long durations.

· Noise level is moderate.

· Reliable physical attendance is required.

· The employee is required to stay awake throughout the shift.
