JMT’s Fort Washington Construction Management team is seeking a qualified and experienced Transportation Construction Inspector for highway, bridge, and other infrastructure projects within the Southeastern Pennsylvania region.

The successful candidate will apply standard inspection procedures to construction activities on behalf of our clients (primarily PennDOT, PA Turnpike and other local agencies) for structural quality, general safety and conformance to plans, specifications and codes.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulations.
  • Makes field notes and computations
  • Gathers, reviews and maintains project records (using PennDOT ECMS and other systems)
  • Witness routine sampling and tests on concrete, soils and other materials

Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities

Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent (may be substituted for experience)
  • 1-4 years of Construction Inspection Experience (Transportation preferred)
  • Strong Computer Proficiency
  • Active driver’s license and reliable motor vehicle

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
  • Client Requested certifications (required to meet TCI-3 qualifications), including : NICET Level 2 or higher in Transportation / Highway ConstructionNECEPT-Bituminous Field TechnicianPennDOT Concrete Field Technician (ACI Concrete Field Technician is prerequisite)CDS NeXtGen and / or ECMS Wave 5

Working Conditions

Work is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed.
