SummaryThe Outbound Transportation Analyst is responsible for providing data and analytics in response to current and future business trends and opportunities - including developing metrics to support the business. This includes managing transportation costs, improving efficiency, and ensuring on-time delivery of products to customers. The analyst will analyze transportation data, identify trends and patterns, and make recommendations for process improvements. This role actively participates in ensuring JOANN stays within the budgetary goals of all outbound transportation spend and assists the organization in making data-driven decisions and changes within the business.

Job Duties
- Compiling and analyzing volumetric data, identifying patterns and forecasting changes – while ensuring data integrity and consistency. Increase shipment/cost visibility through report generation - effectively communicating analytical results and making recommendations. Identify various project reporting requirements, extract data from all applicable sources and compile and format into actionable data presentations. Create and complete weekly, end of month, & quarterly reports accurately and in a timely fashion.
- Identify opportunities for recommendation of process changes, and carriers that facilitate transportation savings, install new efficiencies, improve on-time delivery performance and/or enhance the overall customer service experience for our internal/external customers.
- Deliver actionable insights on financial performance and opportunities to reduce cost without impacting performance. Complete cost-benefit justifications on strategic optimization decisions. Prepare cost studies and analytics in support of carrier negotiations and rate proposals.
- Evaluate outbound expense trends across all departments/divisions and assist in the development of transportation solutions that optimize costs and lane usage.
- Proactively monitor KPIs and generate/update scorecards to drive continuous improvement across cost and service.
- Collaborate with internal departments, JOANN freight audit and pay partner, and carriers, to generate reporting needed.
- Proactively communicate and advise on trends, changes in the transportation industry, or other logistics related factors that may impact the transportation of goods.
- Participate in divisional and quarterly business review meetings with carriers and other supply chain partners.
Experience Minimum: 3-5 years of analytics and transportation experience (small parcel, freight, international and domestic)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong analytical, mathematical and problem-solving skills.
- Intermediate knowledge of Transportation Management Systems (preferably Blue Jay)
- Advanced skill level in Microsoft Suite of applications, with a focus on Excel (graphing, pivot tables, etc.); additionally, use of Power BI and data analytics
- Ability to gain cooperation from others and work autonomously
- Operate as a team player - with strong (verbal and written) communication and collaboration skills
- Possess good time management skills, and the ability to multi-task – supporting multiple initiatives at once - and efficiently.
- Demonstrate adaptability and openness to change.
- Strong skills with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
