Job DescriptionJob Impulse, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Sous Chefin Rochester, MI in a hotel restaurant setting.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in Menu Development: Collaborate with the Executive Chef to create innovative and enticing menus that appeal to guests and showcase seasonal ingredients. complete daily food requisitions and daily specials.
  • Food Preparation: Oversee food preparation and cooking activities to ensure that all dishes are prepared according to recipes, portion control standards, and quality guidelines.
  • Kitchen Management: Manage the kitchen in the absence of the Executive Chef, including supervising kitchen staff, scheduling shifts, staffing, hiring, training, and ensuring a smooth workflow.
  • Quality Control: Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety in the kitchen area, including equipment maintenance and sanitation practices.
  • Training and Development: Train and mentor kitchen staff on cooking techniques, safety procedures, and proper use of equipment to uphold quality standards.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in managing food inventory levels and ordering supplies to minimize waste and maintain cost control.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other kitchen staff and front-of-house teams to ensure seamless communication and efficient service delivery.
  • Adherence to Regulations: Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations, health codes, and hotel policies to uphold the highest standards of food safety and sanitation.
Qualifications
  • Culinary Education: Degree or certification from a culinary school or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in a high-volume kitchen, preferably in a hotel or resort setting. Understanding of food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Culinary Skills: Strong culinary skills with a passion for creating innovative and high-quality dishes.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven leadership abilities with the ability to motivate and mentor kitchen staff.
  • Team Player: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to maintain high standards of quality and presentation.
  • Flexibility: Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the demands of the business.
  • Certifications: Certification in food safety and sanitation (e.g., ServSafe) is preferred.
REQUIRED Experience And Education
  • Read and understand English.
  • Minimum 2 years cooking experience, preferably high volume.
  • Food/Beverage Service Worker Permit, where applicable.
  • Meet minimum age requirement of jurisdiction.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the public and other employees.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
