Job Title: Financial Compliance Analyst (Hybrid Onsite 1 day/week) Location: Alexandria, VA Rate: $35-45/hr (1099) Overview: We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Financial Compliance Analyst to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting thorough reviews of general ledger (G/L) entries within to ensure compliance with federal financial accounting guidelines. Additionally, the candidate will assist in developing and maintaining risk assessments over revenue accruals and evaluate the compliance of existing accounting processes with authoritative federal financial regulations. Key Responsibilities
General Ledger Review:
Conduct comprehensive reviews of G/L entries to ensure compliance with authoritative federal financial account guidance.
Analyze G/L postings to identify potential misstatements to the Army General Fund financial statements.
Prepare federal accounting analysis reports based on findings from ERP system reviews.
Develop remediation actions and system change requests (SCRs) to address identified issues and findings.
Provide feedback on posting logic to other project teams for items such as Notices of Findings and Recommendations (NFRs) and Provided by Client (PBC) requests.
Risk Assessment for Revenue Accruals:
Assist in the development and maintenance of risk assessments over revenue accruals within federal systems.
Perform analyses over data within ERP systems to assess the risk associated with revenue accrual activities.
Ensure that revenue accruals above materiality threshold are recorded on a quarterly basis to facilitate proper reporting.
Compliance Testing:
Determine the compliance of existing accounting processes by testing system posting logic against authoritative federal financial accounting regulations.
Evaluate adherence to standards such as FASAB, USSGL, GAAP, etc., and identify areas for improvement or enhancement.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to implement changes or enhancements to accounting processes as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Advanced degree or professional certification (CPA, CIA, etc.) preferred.
1 year of federal financial management
Proven experience in financial compliance, internal audit, or related field, preferably in a government or federal agency environment.
Strong understanding of federal financial accounting regulations and standards, including FASAB, USSGL, and GAAP.
Experience with reviewing G/L entries within ERP systems (e.g., GFEBS) and conducting federal accounting analysis.
Ability to develop and maintain risk assessments over revenue accruals and ensure proper reporting.
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify potential misstatements and compliance issues.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex financial concepts to stakeholders at all levels.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
