- Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements for non-profit organizations.
- Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and actual expenditures.
- Coordinate all audit activity and manage production of annual tax forms 990s and 1120.
- Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership abreast of the organization’s financial status.
- Assist the organization's leadership in the annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review all financial plans and compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate.
- Lead and coach the finance team to the next level by further developing and implementing recruitment, training, and retention strategies.
- Ensure compliance with 2CFR200 regulations.
- Act as a liaison for the organization with banking institutions and manage organizational cash flow and forecasting.
- Must have a CPA designation.
- A minimum of 5 years of accounting and finance experience, ideally beginning in accounting and audit, followed by experience gathering, evaluating, presenting and reporting financial information to executive teams and external stakeholders.
- At least 4 years of experience in leading a team.
- Previous experience in the non-profit or public sector is required.
- Experience with tax forms 990s and 1120 is required.
- Knowledge of 2CFR200 regulations is a must.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management, board or other outside partners.
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to and passion for the organization's mission.
- Ability to translate financial concepts to – and to effectively collaborate with -- programmatic and fundraising colleagues who do not necessarily have finance backgrounds.
- Technologically savvy, with an ability to point to examples of having worked with IT staff to develop and implement new processes and systems that increased efficiency in a fast-moving environment.
