We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in the Engineering industry. This is a permanent role for someone who is ready to take the lead in our accounting department. You will be responsible for managing financial procedures, ensuring compliance with regulations, and contributing to financial decisions that will propel our company to greater heights.
Responsibilities:
As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for the following:
1. Preparing accurate and timely financial statements and reports, including balance sheets and income statements.
2. Performing month-end and year-end close procedures, including reconciliation of the general ledger.
3. Preparing and posting complex journal entries, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all entries and financial records.
4. Conducting variance analysis to understand the cause of any discrepancies and implementing corrective actions.
5. Handling multi-state sales tax filings and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
6. Assisting with the development and implementation of accounting systems and processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
7. Collaborating with the finance team to prepare budgets, forecasts, and risk analysis.
8. Assisting with internal and external audits, providing necessary information and preparing requested documentations.
9. Working closely with other departments to ensure financial transactions are accurately recorded.
10. Providing training and mentorship to junior accounting staff as needed.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Senior Accountant role should possess the following qualifications:
1. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A CPA or other relevant certification is preferred.
2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably within the Engineering industry.
3. Expertise in multi-state sales tax filings, month-end close procedures, preparation of journal entries, balance sheet management, and variance analysis.
4. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
5. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly with Excel.
6. Excellent analytical skills with a strong attention to detail.
7. Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
8. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.
9. A proactive approach to problem-solving, with strong decision-making skills.
