We are seeking a Permanent Accountant to join our thriving business. The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of accounting tasks including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable and receivable, balance statement preparation, and managing union dues. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of experience in a similar role and a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all daily accounting functions including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and balance statements.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of invoices and payments.
- Manage the collection, processing, and reconciliation of union dues.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports to provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to management for decision-making purposes.
- Ensure compliance with all internal policies and relevant regulations and ensure filings are completed in a timely manner.
- Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and credit control.
- Coordinate with external auditors and manage the audit process.
- Participate in the ongoing development and implementation of organizational strategies and work with senior management to forecast future budgets and prepare financial models.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.
- Thorough knowledge of general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
- Excellent understanding of financial statistics and accounting principles.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically about financial management.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
