Jobs@UIOWA Careers is Hiring an Informatics Analyst Near Iowa, IA

This position is eligible for hybrid work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location.

 

The Informatics Analyst is a clinician who has experience in utilization of an electronic health record in practice and a responsibility for ensuring an environment of safe quality care. The Informatics Analyst demonstrates a level of policy and clinical knowledge, sound clinical judgment, technical competency with clinical information system applications and workflows, and demonstrates professionalism as it relates to interpersonal and general communication skills. This position will support the University of Iowa Health Care North Liberty campus-based departments and staff.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Support of the clinical community in the adoption and meaningful use of electronic health records.
  • Support system development and testing. Provide knowledge to translate clinical requirements into system design, workflow customization, data collection and testing. Utilize knowledge and clinical relationships to collaborate with IT staff on design and implementation projects.
  • Contribute to support of clinical user community with training, on the job demonstrations, and just-in-time technology support in clinical environments.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current trends and issues in the clinical practice, national and statewide standards and regulations and procedures within the clinical practice.
  • Participate in quality initiatives for safe and effective care delivery.
  • Knowledge of the process, tools, techniques, and practices for assuring adherence to quality standards associated with developing, enhancing, and operationalizing application systems and databases.
  • Exhibits good teamwork, is approachable, cooperative, and contributes to an overall positive and productive work/team environment.
  • Obtains and maintains Epic certification(s).
  • Maintains documentation on assigned project requirements and design decision.
  • Provides one-on-one or small group demonstrations and go-live support.
  • Communicates effectively with technical and non-technical staff in all methods of communication.
  • Collects and analyzes user feedback and identifies revisions and enhancements.
  • Identifies professional development opportunities and encourages continuous learning.

Education Required:

Bachelor’s degree in a health related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Typically, 1 year of experience (within the last 5 years) in a clinical role in a complex health care environment such as a large medical center/system or teaching hospital.
  • Provides and accepts ideas and suggestions in a constructive and helpful manner.
  • Experience authoring training materials and leading training sessions in a variety of formats.
  • Excellent communication skills at the verbal, written, and presentation level. Proven ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Suite of products (such as Outlook, Word, Teams, OneNote).
  • Licensure or certification in the state of Iowa, or equivalent for clinical profession

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Clinical practice experience at an academic medical center
  • Experience using Epic in an ambulatory or hospital setting.
  • Experience translating customer requirements into system design specifications.
  • Ability to assess learning needs and match to the most effective education methods.
  • Previous experience providing 24x7 on-call support.
