Job Description - The RoleTesco Bank is embarking on an ambitious greenfield separation programme, transitioning from their Insurance and Money Services estate from on-prem and AWS platforms to a new Azure platform. Tesco Bank are looking for x4 Technical Architects for this greenfield programme with a diverse range of skillsets. They require:
  • Data Solution Architect (AWS/Azure, Python, Databricks)
  • Security Architect
  • Network Architect
  • Infrastructure Architect
It is important to note that:
  • As this is greenfield there will initially be workshops to shape the programme. At the beginning the role will require presence in either Edinburgh, Glasgow or Newcastle offices. There will be flexibility around remote working once these workshops are complete.
  • Tesco Bank are due to enter a strategic partnership with Barclays on October 31st; as such the initial contract term can only run up to October 31st. The expectation is that the role will run for a standard initial 6 months with scope for extension. This is a 2 year programme so there is excellent scope for longevity in it.
Key responsibilities:
  • Develop and design scalable, reliable, and secure technical solutions that align with the overall architecture strategy of the greenfield programme.
  • Involvement in the migration of systems from on-premises and AWS environments to Azure, ensuring smooth transitions and optimal performance.
  • Provide technical guidance and leadership to development teams, ensuring adherence to best practices and architectural standards.
  • Engage in initial workshops to define the programme's scope, objectives, and architectural direction, providing expert insights and recommendations.
  • Ensure seamless integration of various systems and platforms, promoting interoperability and efficient data flow.
  • Monitor and optimize technical solutions for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency on the Azure platform.
  • Ensure that all technical solutions comply with relevant security standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for technical architectures, processes, and guidelines to facilitate knowledge sharing and governance.
  • Work closely with other architects, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure cohesive and integrated solutions that meet business requirements.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies, incorporating innovative solutions to enhance the programme's architecture.
Candidate Profile: Key accountabilities, skills & experienceEach role requires significant experience in a similar position at a comparable organisation. As there are four roles available the skillset will vary from role to role.
  • Strong background in system architecture including data architecture or network/infrastructure architecture or security architecture.
  • Proficiency in programming and scripting languages commonly used in cloud environments.
  • Experience with integration technologies and patterns.
  • Expertise in optimizing technical solutions for performance and cost-effectiveness on cloud platforms.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on delivering high-quality technical solutions.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, managing multiple stakeholders and priorities effectively.
  • A proactive approach to learning and applying new technologies and methodologies to enhance technical solutions.
