Position Overview
The Health & Safety Manager will work alongside and influence other company stakeholders (operations, people risk, legal, construction, design, logistics, etc) to ensure a world class Health and Safety culture is present in all of the company’s activities and decisions
Interface with external consultancies as well as governmental agencies to determine applicable local standards and reporting requirements.
Responsibilities
Manage a team of approximately 1-3 direct reports plus contractors.
Set annual HSE Strategies for the plant and ensure it is aligned with the global strategies.
Establish HSE Targets and Objectives for the plant
Track and report to the management team.
Ensure compliance and on time reporting on all Environmental permits including but not limited to Title V, Waste Water, RCRA-Large Quantity Waste Supplier, SPCC and SWPPP.
Prepare and communicate the HSE Monthly Scorecard to the Management team.
Establish, track, and report the HSE Incidents utilizing Sphera Cloud reporting tool.
Ensures all injuries and near misses are analyzed for trends and that corrective actions are implemented.
Manage all workers compensation claims.
Plan, initiate and coordinate continuous improvement of new / revised HSE programs and initiatives.
Ensure SGRE maintains the OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 certifications
These certifications are required by nearly all customers.
Implement control measures from top environmental aspects and legal requirement check e.g
waste management, prohibited substances, environmental impact etc.
Work closely with the Facilities Teams to ensure robust facilities maintenance regimes are in place to adequately control risks such as fire, legionella, electricity, lifts etc.
Promote other cross functional initiatives that foster a world class Health and Safety culture and standards.
Professional lead Regulatory inspections.
Required Knowledge / Skills, Education, and Experience
10 years or more of successful experience in the Health, Safety and Environmental field.
Strong communication and presentation skills (must be able to present effectively to executive management)
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple competing priorities
Advocate for Zero Harm Safety Culture / Safety is my Choice with ability to influence decisions and actions within the management team to ensure Safety comes first
Extensive knowledge about OSHA regulations
Qualified applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States

Preferred Knowledge / Skills, Education, and Experience
Experience in the Wind Industry or experience in manufacturing
Bachelors Degree
Certified Safety Professional
