AboutAbout the Facility - Uintah and Ouray Health Center Leave the hazards of urban life behind and apply your skills to a wide scope of health care. This ambulatory 40-hour facility is staffed by physicians, physician's assistants, nurse practitioners, and dental, optometry, and psychology providers. They provide comprehensive public health services including general medical, surgical follow-up, pediatric, prenatal, and postpartum care. Dental, behavioral health and optometry services are also available. Other clinical specialties are provided by visiting consultants and are scheduled periodically. Patients requiring more complex medical care are referred to the hospital or other contract facilities.

Medical Assistant - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)
- The Medical Assistant provides patient education.
- Carry out physician orders; administer medications, oxygen, and a variety of treatments.
- Manage therapeutic devices such as respiratory and electrocardiograph machines and other medical equipment and supplies.
- The Medical Assistant measures and assesses vital signs, height, weight, neurological status, visual acuity, and hearing.
- Screen patients for alcohol dependence, depression, etc.
- Collaborate and coordinate patient care with other healthcare providers.
- Perform quality control for capillary blood glucose monitoring checks, fridge temperature checks, etc.
- Collect or assist in the collection of lab specimens where applicable.
- Recognize adverse reactions to medications, treatments, and procedures and initiate interventions as appropriate to the situation.
- The Medical Assistant answer and screen telephone calls, take off and initiate medical orders.
- Years of Experience: minimum of (6) months of experience as a medical assistant. The training during the medical assistant program can count as (6) months of experience.
- Minimum Education: completion of a medical assistant program, certified/licensed medical assistant certificate, preferred.
- Current certification in BLS (Basic Life Support).
- The Medical Assistant must have an active, unrestricted, and free of-disciplinary action certificate/license as a medical assistant in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States.
