Join our Summer Street nursing facility with John F. Murphy Homes in Auburn. Summer Street nursing facility is a warm, home-like environment where people supported are cared for according to their individual needs. As one of our Certified Nursing Assistants, you will be part of an excellent team of professionals to help meet the medical and social needs of the people we support at a beautiful and new 14-bed Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual and Physical Disabilities.

Qualifications

Experience: 1 year of CNA experience preferred. At least 3 months of experience working with people with intellectual disabilities. Successful completion of 3 months of orientation training can be counted as 3 months of experience.

Licensure: Current CNA certification on the State of Maine Registry in good standing required. Driver’s license required.

Purpose: The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) assists with providing direct care to (14) people supported at an Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual and Physical Disabilities (ICF-IID).

Primary Responsibilities:

• Implement active treatments which include but not limited to; facilitation of gaining independence in personal hygiene, self-preservation and safety, communication skills, positive behavioral coping strategies, social skills, and assistance in daily living.
• Participate in activities and outings as scheduled with people supported.
• Assist with transporting and attending medical appointments as needed.
• Report to the charge nurse with any concerns pertaining to medical and behavioral needs and/or the well-being of people supported.
• Work collaboratively with all departments within the facility to ensure all needs of the people supported are being met.
• Thorough documentation using an Electronic Health Recordkeeping program (Therap) to record vital signs, general event reports, height/weight, ADLs, intake/output, etc.
• Adhere to Infection Prevention and Control practices and protocols.
