Who you are :

As the Internal Communications Specialist for Johns Hopkins Health Plans, you are a conduit of information to our employees.

You create and disseminate the right message to the right audience, using the most effective channels. Through your expertise in communication, you help articulate messages that inform and engage, directly influencing a positive employee experience.

In this highly-visible position, you interact with all levels of the organization. You are passionate about supporting a mission-driven organization in becoming a leader in provider-sponsored health plans.

What you’ll do :

  • Inform and engage the JHHP workforce about critical organizational initiatives (and other important things like who has the cutest pets)
  • Interface with internal departments and assist them to best articulate their message in a way that all employees will understand and adopt
  • Evaluate communication requests for content, timing and strategy
  • Manage an internal communications calendar
  • Produce twice-weekly email newsletter
  • Update content on JHHP’s intranet site
  • Prepare materials that support communication projects
  • Liaise with internal communications colleagues from Johns Hopkins Medicine to ensure delivery of health system-wide messaging

What you’ll bring :

  • 3 years’ experience in communications is required Health care experience is a plus
  • Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to distill corporate messages into engaging communications.
  • Creativity to help messages resonate with employees.
  • Multimedia skills desirable. Video production and editing, photography, audio editing.
  • Experience developing and executing communications plans and strategies.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects from multiple clients simultaneously.
  • Experience with SharePoint or familiarity with updating web content a plus.
  • High level of interpersonal skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary; superior attention to detail;

ability to follow (minimal at times) instructions in a proactive manner.

  • High level of analytical ability necessary to identify strengths, weaknesses and possible solutions; ability to manage multiple tasks, organize and prioritize in a deadline-driven environment.
  • High level of facilitation skills; ability to solve problems quickly and effectively.
