Johnson County Government's Financial Management & Administration Department is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Payables Technician. The position will be filled based on the candidate’s qualifications.

The Financial Management & Administration Department provides accounting and financial reporting, grants management, debt management, accounts payable, procurement, surplus disposal process, purchasing card program, risk management, payroll, employee benefit programs, and shared administrative services for County departments and agencies.

This posting will remain open until filled.

  • Maintain effective communication and good working relationships with employees at all levels of the County and customers outside the department in all key functional areas.

  • Communicates verbally and in writing with internal and external contacts in order to resolve discrepancies and exchange or update information.

  • Maintains and updates files; gathers and collates records to compile information.

  • Reconciliation of interface invoice batches received, accurate data entry of payables invoices by matching invoices to purchase orders in a large volume environment.

  • Perform Accounts Payable Check runs, ACH Payment batch processing, the recording of various Wire Payments, and payment voids.

  • Provide direction to all departments regarding financial policies and related payables and procurement audit practices for Johnson County Government.

  • Research and respond to vendors and departments’ questions in a timely manner.

  • Perform Audits of employee expense reimbursements to ensure compliance with County Policy, focusing primarily on expenditure type and complete and accurate receipts.

Job Requirements

A high school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or administrative functions involving record keeping or related area are required.

Associate’s degree in Accounting or related field is preferred.

Experience can substitute for education. Education can substitute for experience.
