Biologics Discovery, Janssen Research and Development, L.L.C., a member of Johnson and Johnson's Family of Companies, works on projects with all Therapeutic Areas and enables discovery of new therapeutics concepts in collaboration with Therapeutic area discovery counterparts. Utilizing highly specialized, world-class expertise, experience and knowledge, this individual contributor position will be focusing on working with DPDS external innovation and therapeutic areas on due diligence of biologics platforms and assets.
Key responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
  • Provide expert scientific and technical assessment of therapeutic opportunities and promising science and technologies across the preclinical and clinical spectrum
  • Work closely with External Innovation, Therapeutic Area leads, and internal subject matter stake holders to carefully assess biologics opportunities and deliver sound recommendation to senior management
  • Represent Biologics Discovery in focused cross-functional teams in the early evaluation of opportunities for further diligence, with focus on the scientific and technical merit to advance (or exclude) opportunities. Integrate disparate data sets with an interdisciplinary perspective
  • Lead deep scientific cross-functional due diligence teams to deliver distilled/differentiated viewpoints, to identify key outstanding questions and to articulate rational next steps toward identifying and developing investment proposals for presentation to senior leadership
  • Organize and proactively manage external alliances, collaborations, and scientific partnerships that are of interest to Biologics Discovery
  • Must have subject-matter expertise and understanding of the scientific, technical and competitive landscape(s), to develop scenarios and prosecution rationales and to make thoughtful recommendations that will enable key senior stakeholders to position the company optimally to compete successfully in highly dynamic environments
Qualifications
  • Minimum of BS in life sciences or related field, PhD is strongly preferred
  • 10-15 years' experience in end-to-end Biologics drug discovery in pharmaceutical company
  • Experience in search and evaluation or competitive intelligence
  • Business acumen for optimal science-business interfacing
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking capability and strong ability to deliver results in timely manner and at the highest levels of excellence
  • Proven ability to build strong effective working relationships with new teams rapidly
  • Ability to lead cross functional teams
  • Strong project management, organization, presentation and communication skills - driving diverse teams to clear GO/NO GO decision
  • Ability to work in an intense, fast paced, matrixed, global work environment with minimal supervision
