This position is responsible for directly supporting various production departments on site through a combination of continuous improvement application and early-stage development work. Responsibilities could include development and transfer of new parts to production scale, improvement or optimization of existing processes, support of equipment service/maintenance activity, and/or integration of new technologies or equipment into existing production departments. Your responsibilities: Programming, setting up, and producing existing products and new products that expand the previously established capability of the CNC machines. Able to perform all setups (basic and advanced, 5 tools or more) and able to provide training to other operators. Able to operate 2 machines with 1 set up or full production on 3-4 machines (if necessary). Troubleshooting and resolving recurring/typical machine issues. Investigating new issues with equipment and providing feedback on solution options. Able to identify the source of most machine issues. Autonomously organize all relevant communication regarding machine issue resolution both internally and externally. Responsible for updating and generating new production documents using MS Excel and Word. Able to design and produce tooling for new product that is new and novel. Preparing a prototype tool design for implementation in high volume production. Performing dimensional and visual inspection on components, documenting inspection results where necessary. Adequately controlling programs and processes in document control system. Supporting process improvements and ongoing Lean improvement projects. Supporting capital equipment justifications for new machines or processes technologies that will support site goals of increasing quality, cost, and/or cycle time. Complying with Quality Policy, Quality Objectives, and Quality Operating Procedures. Supporting production department investigations into Quality concerns Works with Engineering to develop work instructions for Developmental jobs. Coordinate tasks and projects with other departments Participates in local programmes and initiatives to improve EHS performance. May suggest areas for improvement to the production process e.g. complete kaizen suggestions and participate in 5 Why investigation problem solving analysis. May include limited travel requirements, less than 10% of time. Requirements for the role: High school diploma or equivalent and/or vocational training preferred 8-10 years of Swiss Screw machining work experience with demonstrated ability or related technical certificate program. Ability to operate and troubleshoot Swiss Screw machines at a high level of precision 2-3 years’ experience and ability to read, understand and edit CNC programs, ie. G-Codes, M-Codes, Tool offsets, common values etc. Ability to use in process inspection tools, such as micrometers, optical comparator, Nikon and other related equipment with optimal accuracy. Ability to occasionally lift 10 – 20 pounds. Advanced problem-solving skills Must be able to operate CNC type machines at a high level of precision, and utilize micrometers, optical comparator, and other related equipment with optimal accuracy. Ability to read and interpret Engineering Drawings with GD&T Proficient in the use of computers and MS Windows, specifically including Microsoft Word and Excel applications. Ability to use both hands in a semi-repetitive motion for up to 6 hours per day The employee stands 6 hours or more in a given day and sits and walks intermittently. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
