Johnstown Tomahawks is Hiring an Equipment Manager Near Johnstown, PA

The Johnstown Tomahawks, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are the oldest franchise in the NAHL East, playing home games at the historic Cambria County 1ST SUMMIT Arena, famously featured in the hockey movie "Slap Shot" located in Johnstown, PA. The NAHL is the oldest and largest junior hockey league in the United States and is renowned for advancing players to the NCAA and professional hockey. The Tomahawks have a large amount of community support, averaging over 52,000 fans each season, the highest in the NAHL East and one of the highest in the North American Hockey League.
Position Overview:
The Equipment Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of team equipment, including maintenance, inventory, and logistics. This role requires a proactive individual with excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Travel to away games is a mandatory aspect of this position.
Key Responsibilities:
Equipment Maintenance:
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair all hockey equipment. 
  • Sharpen skates and manage skate inventory. 
  • Ensure all gear is safe, clean, and in top condition.
Inventory Management:
  • Track and manage inventory of all team equipment.
  • Order new equipment and supplies as needed.
  • Maintain detailed records of equipment usage and needs.
Game and Practice Preparation:
  • Prepare locker rooms for games and practices.
  • Set up and break down equipment for all home and away games.
  • Manage the transportation of equipment to away games.
Logistics and Travel:
  • Coordinate equipment logistics for travel, including packing and transportation.
  • Ensure all equipment arrives at away venues in a timely manner.
  • Assist with team travel arrangements as needed.
Team Support:
  • Work closely with coaches, players, and other staff to meet equipment needs.
  • Provide on-the-spot equipment repairs during games and practices.
  • Assist with other team-related duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • Previous experience as an Equipment Manager or in a similar role, preferably in hockey.
  • Strong knowledge of hockey equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills and a professional demeanor.
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various conditions (cold rinks, travel environments).
