Jones Edmunds and Associates is Hiring a Construction Administrator Near Jacksonville, FL

Description

JOB SUMMARY: The Construction Administrator oversees the construction administration phase of construction projects typically from start to finish in accordance with the Jones Edmunds Construction Administration Manual. This position provides quality review on construction projects being constructed by others and assists in preparing construction project plans. This roles primary function is to use discretion and independent judgment in directing administration activities on projects, evaluating projects for construction document compliance, establishing project procedures, solving problems, reviewing and contributing to budgets, and observation of project work. The Construction Administrator initiates document revisions and project reviews, processes changes orders by coordinating with the Project Manager/Engineers of Record, identifies deficiencies and unfinished work and prepares punch-lists and close-out procedures, and performs post-construction services and investigations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Technical Responsibility

  • Oversee construction administration of others’ projects.
  • Review construction plans, specifications, construction cost data and other contract documents to ensure compliance, and identify errors, omissions, code violations, and design problems.
  • Administer construction contracts.
  • Manage construction activity documentation.
  • Travel to construction sites for site observation, evaluation, problem solving, and progress meetings.
  • Meet deadlines.
  • Evaluate and analyze costs and prepare cost estimates.
  • Participate in preparation of construction project plans and documentation.
  • Receive, identify, and evaluate problems, and evaluate, select, and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Communicate regularly with the Project Manager on project activities and track project progress on completed work relative to the agreed-on scope and deliverable goals.
  • Develop presentations concerning findings, changes, or other information to client staff.
  • Engage in continuing professional development.
  • Participate in internal and external observations of construction projects, and work to remedy any issues discovered.
  • Ensure Jones Edmunds complies with safety policies and regulations.

Quality Program Responsibility

  • Assume responsibility for the quality of work submitted. Review designs and documents before submitting them to the next review level.
  • Adhere to project deadlines and keep the Project Manager or other staff member informed of any difficulties encountered on assignments.
  • Responsible for proper quality assurance and quality control on projects in accordance with professional judgement, knowledge of industry practices and standards, and in compliance with the Jones Edmunds Quality Program and client standards and expectations. Provides constructability review on design projects.
  • May be responsible for reviewing Engineering Intern’s work that was completed under his/her direction.
  • Submit work for quality control review on time and in a complete format.

Management Responsibility

  • May act as a Task Manager.
  • Facilitate communication between client, contractors, and internal staff.
  • Observe and train Field Representatives.

Marketing Responsibility

  • Provide information to the marketing team and others in the Company as requested.
  • Will interact directly with clients on a regular basis.
  • Will interact with other professionals through membership in societies and technical organizations.
  • Present a professional and positive image of Jones Edmunds.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Education: BS in Engineering, Construction, or related field from an accredited college or university. Four years of directly related experience may be substituted for a degree

Registration: May require registration as a Florida Professional Engineer or registration in another state with the ability to obtain Florida registration within 6 months

Certification: None

Experience: 5 years of progressive construction administration or related experience. MS from an accredited college or university in a related field may be substituted for 1 year of experience.

Other: Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable MVR
